I was playing for the first time to The Sims (All EPs), the first thing that I did is going to the Magicland !

Amazing ! This place is richer than TS2 Magic World ! I also saw strange character like clown and skeleton maid !

I think this strange carnival was a good idea !

I didn't explore enough TS1 but I'll try to play with it again !

What are the other differences between the magic part of AL and TS1 Makin' Magic ?

yep they left out a good many magical things from ts1 but i think mostly it was because the ts2 magics was more of an after thought than the core theme to this ep. i do wish that they added a few more mystical magical type looking objects that would have been nice basically matching things to the objects your good and evil witches can make (not to mention i wish your neutral witches could make a neutral version of the thrones, even if it didnt up their motives just so they could have a throne lol)

You could turn people into toads and also make your favourite pet into a sim... and DRAGONS and DUELS... so the Sims 1 definitely wins the magic stakes!

I will choose a path that's clear- I will choose free will

Yeah, that chicken spell in TS2 is useless, I thought it would turn people into real chicken, that would be nice

I miss TS1. When children could do magic and dragons and the skeleton maid, that was the best.

The TS1 magic was way better, it was more fun and there were more spells, I liked the one you could use on the garden gnomes, and toadification was cool too, they were all pretty good! The dragons were fun till they set your house on fire. The baking was fun too!

What EP has the witches? Apartment Life? That would make sense, since most witches I know live in apartments...

TS1 owned the Magic Town aspect--I was so disappointed how lacking TS2's Magic Town was.

Yes the doctor, woman.. are moving and scream in their pictures, the horoscope woman tell you how to make nectar, cake; the crystals, steal magic bean when you climb up in magic bean tree; the giant flower n root... too much to tell!
You can take your pets to
The Sims --> fairy tale! Absolutely an entertainment game! (soundtracks also included)

The sims2 much more beautiful, more realistic..but? I can't feel it like the sims.

I was really underwhelmed by the lack of "magical" atmosphere for the witches. With Sims 1, it felt like you were in this whimsical little world, and in this one its kinda boring. I guess if we want a Magic Town, we'll have to make it ourselves.

Unfair comparison! :p

I mean, one is an entire expansion pack and the other is a special bonus. Of course the Sims 1 wins, it just has a lot more to it.

If you were to comapre Bon Voyage to Vacation, though, I'd have to give the Sims 2 the shiny gold star for graphical prettiness and more detailed gameplay due to the differences in each destination. But compare Pets to Unleashed and I think the original Sims version wins hands down, for not only providing pets (the Sim 2 pets did look better, but, well, duh, the whole game looks better) but for the addition of the Old Town neighbourhood and all that came with it. The 'Atomic' collection versus pseudo French Quarter? No competition!

I was really hoping for a Sims 2 Makin' Magic and a Sims 2 Superstar >_> but at least there are witches. My favorite part of Sims 1 Makin' Magic was the actual music; especially on Halloween.

i don't have al, but the reason mm was so much better was because magic had an entire ep devoted to it.

Also; the land was so mystical and almost like a secret place for just witches. I enjoyed the mini games of getting certain items for trade and such. The challenge made the game fun and made the spells worth it.

I definitely think that Makin' Magic was superior to the witches and magic in AL. If there's one EP they should have remade bit-by-bit, it's MM. The witch lots in AL are so bland and boring. The ones in MM were very interesting, exciting, and had lots of character. And the spooky houses! Oh, those were awesome!

I loved that Dragon! Only I was a bit sad when I had to let it go...but then I adopted another one! They also got the playground from TS1 into AL mostly the super tower. I loved the skeleton maid, I wish she was back. (Wonders if someone might create one in MTS2...)

I really miss TS1 and the magic town was way better, you could go on rollercoaster rides and have a spell duel which was fun. TS2's magic town was a disappointment, it wasn't very special.

That whole neighbourhood from MM was, well...magical. I loved that pack so much and the community lots were so atmospheric that it nearly seemed like a completely different game.

I adored the snake charmer and the silly little games you had to play to get magical ingredients and the baking and wine-making etc. If there ever was an EP that I would love to see an "exact" remake of, it's that one. So far, the magical things in AL seem the same as pretty much else in the Sims 2, much better graphically and more functional, but somehow lacking in atmosphere/personality from their counterparts in Sims 1.

I more like sims 1 magic town. The spells were better and there were more magical lots and objects. In sims 2 we have magic world with just two lots,I think that a whole world can't have just two castles. Also they make that all witches/warlocks wears the same clothes and that hats.It is very stupid that maxis didn't create some spooky/mysterious outfits.Spells in Al aren't really spells, all things that witches do with their wands, normal sims also can do it without wand. They make breakfast with magic(there's no sim that can't make breakfast),magic cat(every sim can have one),rain/butterflies/sun/roaches/puddles/leaves all these stuff normal sims can do(weather is changing even without witches)fight spell/magic asistant, sims can fight and help each other without magic. In sims 1 there was really big diffrence between normal and magic sims.Spells were really new(enchant, hypnotize, banish),they do something that normals can't.Dragon was pet that was buyable just for magic sims, not for everyone. And magic coins were great, and there was about thirty diffrent ingredients, not just six.And kids were having magic. It was very intersanting to see little wizards and witches making charms and spells.I hate that ALL creatures from sims 2 games are just for teen to elder.I was very, very disapinted when I saw that there's no magic kids.

And finnaly,I think that sims 1 was a lot of better in magic, but for other eps...well that's another story.
