I haven't really been to a concert in a long time. But, here in MN, Hannah Montana is coming on Oct 22nd and everybody wants those tickets. On radio, they are giving them away like everyday. But the cost of them just scares me. On ebay, they are selling for 1000 dollars. And they orginal cost somewhere around 100-300 dollars in the first place. And another person sold them for 1200 or more. Can't remember. But I think that it is outrages for conert tickets to be that high. What is your input on Concert Tickets? Do they cost to little or cost too much? Or are they just the perfect price? Was there a time, in your state or country, where the price of Concert Tickets were just outrages as the issue above? Please, do tell. : ] |

Ugh I'm glad you brought this up because ticket prices drive me insane. Led Zeppelin are making a comeback tour in the near future I think, and I heard that they will be selling there tickets over here for over £80! I mean that is ridiculous. Because now a fan like me can't say no and I'll be forced to fork out that much cash just to see them perform on stage for an hour. Even though they are worth it, I just thought that maybe since they were just coming back, that they might be a little more leniant! And I also hate the fact that people are allowed tobuy tickets in bulk and sell them on Ebay. I purchased a ticket to see Foo Fighters next month and it cost me £30. But now I go onto Ebay and see that some selfish a holes are selling some for hundreds of pounds. One person in particular who was selling at least four tickets, put the price up at £340! They are all gone now but, I feel sorry for those people who never had the chace to buy them at first, and you had to pay that price for a single ticket. I wish that tickets were non-resellable (SP?). But that still won't change just how expensive it is to pay to see somebody live in concert. But money makes the world go round I guess. |

I think a lot of prices for a lot of things are insane. But: A) It is what the people are willing to sell them for. B) Buyers are willing to pay that amount. C) Enough are moving to satisfy the sellers. I personally can't stand live performances. It's not so much the live performers, it's the zillion other people. I hate applause and whistling and screaming. I loathe sing-along performances. So you probably couldn't pay me to go to a concert, but there are other pricey things I would want but cost a lot*cough*PS3*cough*, so I can sympathize with people who think concert ticket prices are outrageous. The buying in bulk and then selling at grossly overpriced prices really irks me, too. Greedy greedy people. |

It would be great if they were non-transferable, but then what happens to the people who genuinely can't go to the concert and want to sell their tickets? My husband really wanted to see The Killers in Aberdeen this year but couldn't get a ticket. Half an hour later there were people from the south of England selling them on eBay, it's ridiculous! I don't think tickets are over-priced though. I recently bought tickets for The Enemy and Maximo Park for £14, Manic Street Preachers £25 and I saw My Chemical Romance Tickets for sale at £21. That seems pretty reasonable to me. | |

thanks for brining this up. i wanna know what the current ticket prices are for acts like beyonce and josh groban because they have a show here (separately) and the ticket prices are just ridiculous. they go as high as 20,000 pesos for one person which is roughly around 400 to 500 US dollars. it's a third world country and 20,000 pesos is someone's salary for a whole month! |

Beyonce tickets cost £36-£46 here in the UK, that's about $70-$90. You are definitely being ripped off! |

Beyonce is coming to Romania this month and prices range between approx 15-30 Euro. For VIP seats they are about 110 Euro. It's quite affordable but if you get the cheapest ticket then perhaps you'd be much better off watching the concert on TV. |

Mrrrghh, one of my favorite bands (Within Temptation) is having a big concert in February, and the cheapest ticket is 30 euros...they don't even say what the VIP seats cost yet (though there's a contest on the radio to win one)...I really really wanna go, but between my boyfriend and I that would be 60 euros only the tickets, and you gotta think of transport costs, something to drink, maybe a bite to eat...bleh...it's a shame, I would've loved to see them :P Ironically, when they toured in the States and a friend of mine went, the tickets were half that price. |

Can you blame them? How else are they to make money when everyone and their mother is downloading music online? |

I think the recording artists are doing just fine personally. There's no reason for them to charge so much money for concert tickets other than the fact that people are willing to pay. If we stopped buying, the prices would drop. |

If they can sell out their concerts with high ticket prices, why shouldn't they? Isn't that the free market at work? If you can't afford to go, that sucks, but really, if they can sell out tickets at 90 bucks a pop, why should they sell the tickets for 60? If you had a marketable product, and knew you could sell it at a certain price, and be extremely successful at that price, what would your incentive be to sell your product at less than that? Isn't the goal to make money? Bunnylita hit the nail right on the head...if people stop buying the tickets at those prices, they would have to lower them...but as long as people keep buying them, they have no reason to drop the prices. |

Hmm well I have never been to a concert mainly because I am not a superfan of anyone and because I get very claustraphobic so the crowds would drive me mad. I know that a market would want to sell them for as much as possible, I just think it sucks for the fans who can't afford to go. Without fans those singers would be nothing. I don't think you should be allowed to buy them in bulk though and sell them on ebay... |

I think whatever they want to charge is cool, if they want to overcharge then they will just get less people to go, whatever. It is funny though to hear my dad talk about concerts. I forget how much it was but he always talks about how it was so cheap to get a 3 day pass or however long it was for Woodstock and other concerts. |

Now that's cheap (when I see Portugal's pricing ranges) Jesus Christ, I live in a country where most goods have the same price of Germany but...... we earn 1/4 of their salary. Spain, oh Spain, save us (For now, then we'll want independence again!) |

I am sometimes appalled at the price of concert tickets. Last summer I payed almost eighty dollars, took a night off work and drove over one hundred kilometres to see Van Morrison play a crap concert for under an hour. I think it's disgusting when performers charge their fans that kind of money and then totally rip them off by not playing a full set or pulling a "diva" act. Okay, rant over. |

That happened here (I can't remember who was playing, just that they were crap), They played in a nightclub, which meant under 18's couldn't go and charged $50 presale or $60 at the door and played about 4 songs. The band that played before them (Some local group) played longer than that! The last concert I saw was Grinspoon (yay!) and I paid $25 for my ticket and they were on for like 3 hours. In the rain. It was awesome. It was also open for all ages. |

My mom won't even go near a Microwave Oven let alone Computer, she thinks all electrical appliances will explode one day or another. So, no, not everyones mom download music off the internet. that aside, I do think concert tickets are ridiculously high in pricing. And I applaud free concert such as these (maybe its the only one), number one, it is for publicity, number 2 maybe becasue the rock group wants to treat their fans, for instant what U2 did back in 2004. I think this kind of "free concert" should be done more, no other reasons then sharing what you love doing with the people who appreciate what you do. Unfortunately, not many artist would do that. |

The tickets for the Dream Theater concert I recently attended were 40 euro's (about 26 pounds or 50 dollars) and even though that's more than most concerts in the Ahoy, the concert was long and excellent! Symphony X performed for half an hour, then there was a break, and then DT performed for a solid two and a half hours! It was worth my 40 euro's all the way! Most concerts are slightly cheaper, but much shorter and less professional. These guys have been performing and making music for two decades. |

i saw Marilyn Manson and tickets were only AUD$80 which is so much cheaper than id have expected, i had hundreds put away to see him but a few years ago i saw Cher on her farewell tour and my ticket was $300, but the msot expensive were going for $500. that was crazy, but it WAS cher. most tickets are reasonable, but maybe thats because i'm used to 'reasonable' being around the $60-$100 mark |

It WAS Cher. Then again, Dream Theater IS only among the most influental, and well-known bands in the prog-rock/prog-metal scene. My tickets were only 40EU. |
