This has kind of been a sad round of gameplay for me recently. All of my generation two kiddos are either transitioning to elders or joing Grimmy in sim heaven. One of the most recent sims in my legacy to turn into an elder is Shawn Attention...the only male born into generation two.

Shawn has always had a special connection with his cat Bonkers, which him and his wife Aiyanna (also pictured) adopted when their children were young.

And with Bonkers approaching his elder years, and because Shawn really wanted another pet around the house, they welcomed a new kitten, Cymmi...whom Shawn already adores.

For him being the "man" of generation two (and he's the General!) he sure does have a soft spot.

The answer is simple take a look:

Hilary Aerius is always chief bartender when her boys throw one of their parties, but it's been a long day - hiking, gardening, fishing, jumping on the couch - so after lubricating everybody and mingling a bit she heads upstairs. "You all right, Ma?" Greg asks.
"Little tired, that's all. Don't stop the party on my account!" But she hasn't been asleep very long when music wakes her up. Not the kind Greg's husband Ben and their son John Amos normally play. And - "Who the heck are you? You don't look like anybody that was at the party when I left it."

"I've come to take you to a different party," he says. "Here, have a tikki drink. I've got a bunch of people anxious to see you again."
Hilary realizes what's going on, and accepts the drink.

"Oh, my! Those girls are dancing just like Cousin Mary does since she came back from that island! Will I learn to do that?"
"If you like."
"I think I would, at that."
"I'm sorry you won't have a chance to say good-bye."
"That's all right. I'd hate to spoil their party. They're such good boys. They don't need me to tell them to look out for each other."

"Well, let's go, then, ma'am. I've had a fellow named Gregory fidgeting for days, looking forward to seeing you again."
"Do you now!? I'm kind of itchy to see him again, myself! I got so much to tell him. Lead the way."

Hilary used to be my least favorite CAS sim, but she grew on me after Greg moved back home and I got the hang of Pleasure sims. Note the cat entering in the background of the second picture. She stood and yowled at the urn loud enough to be audible downstairs. Yeah, I cried a bit. She's my first CAS adult to die, having started as a widow with a teen son.

All you can do is the best you can do.

Bruno Turquesa, the first sim I've ever played from in-game birth to death, passed away today.

Playing a legacy challenge is fun, but also sad.

Nannie Ghote, live-in nanny, cook, and housekeeper for the Munny family, gets up in the middle of the night for a bathroom run, chases teen Mark off the computer (she spoils the boys generally, but it's a school night), and goes into the kitchen for a midnight snack, where she finds an unexpected visitor.

"Leave? I can't leave now! My worthless son's finally getting around to providing a second grandchild! And my granddaughter's pregnant! And, and, I have breakfast to make and the dog bed to clean and I'm right in the middle of making all those potholders - it's not fair!"

Up the street, Old Mrs. Munny - or, as Mossless Rock Magazine calls her, Mary Munny, the Geriatric Goddess of Rock - is taking a break from her endless round of throwing parties, giving concerts, and teaching young studs what they're capable of, in order to study up on Fire Safety. She's good at a lot of things (just ask the young studs!), but cooking isn't one of them. According to local tradition, she should have been providing the nanny services for her beloved grandsons, not some hired simmigrant, but nobody really thought it was a good idea.

Mary's not sure why she keeps inviting her cousins Marie and Pierre Curian to her parties. They live right across the street and she's known them forever, but she can never get them to mingle. You can waste half a party trying to get their attention off each other long enough to introduce them to anybody.

They'd be at the tops of their professions right now if they'd exert themselves to win a few friends and influence a few people. They just don't see the point of interacting with anybody but each other! (Damn Knowledge sims; two more friends and they'll both be permaplat, but can they be bothered? They can not!)

All you can do is the best you can do.

Red Onions and his granddaughter, Pearl.

Mary Munny, accepting the adulation of one fan...

...after another. In the first pic, she's on a date with the guy whose hat you can see behind her when Merlin Hawkins spots her and stops to gush. He must be a fan of her music, because they have no bolts. (For story purposes he calls her Aunt Mary anyway; they're related in ways I haven't quite worked out.) In the second, she's just finished a date with a different man, whom she woohooed in the car before coming back in, and normally she'd be sizing up Jim Spitzig here for his date potential, as there's two bolts there. But he's got an engagement ring on and she's officially not interested. She's a free spirit, not a homewrecker.

All you can do is the best you can do.

Brenda Owen... R.I.P.

Possibly my all-time favourite sim, Bailey... it'll be a sad day next time I'm due to play his household, as he'll shuffle off the mortal coil in 6 sim-days time.

But, on the upside he's had a good life: five kids, 8 grandkids, two businesses that he's now handed over to his eldest daughter and has been perma-plat for as long as I can remember. What more could a sim ask for?

EDIT: No, wait, Bailey now has 11 grandchildren. Eldest daughter Tamara gave birth to twins at the start of her rotation, and just now had TRIPLETS! Heaven help the family tree is all I can say!

EDIT 2: My other favourite Sim - Bailey's twin brother Brandon. I'd never seen a sim over the age of Teen "Check Self Out" autonomously that I recall, but here he is doing just that:

No need to use my full name, "Selly" will do just fine.

"Maitland Meanderings" - Chapter 23 (Part 2) now available; See Family Tree

So far in this round, four sims have become elders (there will be four more).

Louisa Lieb

Louisa´s husband Mathias

Jakob Berg (Jakob´s wife Helena is also an elder, but I forgot to take pics of her so I´ll show her later)

Wow, what an amazing bunch of awesome oldies! And then some simmers complain elders are boring...
All pics posted so far are great, though I must confess that I found the Crumplebottom ones a bit creepy...There's just something about that old bat that gives me the chills!

Anyway, here is one of my fav elder piccies:

Here's my legacy founde and co-founder, Roger and Trina Fleurada.

Roger Fleurada playing with his grandbaby.

His wife Trina right after her elder transition.

They still love each other, a lot. Despite all the cheating, they stuck together and stayed happy. I'm gonna be sad to see them go, eventually.

Grace Longshore, my favorite of the people living at the old folks' home in Elsewhere. She's a sweet old lady with a knack for Bridge, but if you interrupt one of her games you're in for trouble.
