How To Post Pictures

Okay - so the last thread still had a lot of people confused on the process.

The number one question! Follow these steps with screenshots included to learn how exactly to post pictures.

1. First of all, sign up for a free (if you choose) image hosting service. This can be found at http://www.photobucket.com . Alternatively, you may choose to use Tinypic http://www.tinypic.com/ or imageshack http://www.imageshack.us/ if you don't want to sign up for an account.

Photobucket http://www.photobucket.com

After you have activated your account in photobucket, upload your picture and it will be uploaded as a box like this.

COPY and PASTE EXACTLY what you see in that [ IMG ] category. (as pointed to by black arrow.)

Imageshack http://www.imageshack.us/

Choose your picture and click "host it".

COPY and PASTE EXACTLY what you see in that (Hotlink for forums (1) category. (as pointed to by black arrow.)

Tinypic http://www.tinypic.com/

Choose your picture and click "host it".

COPY and PASTE EXACTLY what you see in that [ IMG ] category. (as pointed to by black arrow.)

You may use this thread to conduct your tests.

Make sure when looking for the pictures you have taken in game, look in the EA Games/The Sims 2/Neighbourhood # (Number)/Storytelling folder. NOT in the EA Games/The Sims 2/Storytelling folder.

Alternatively, you may choose to click prt scrn while in game and paste the picture onto MS Paint. This increases the size and quality of pictures. Remember to resize to 650x550 though!

That option actually used to be unavailable..(or so I think). If its there, feel free to use it. But should you want to post the same pictures elsewhere, a photobucket account would be helpful.

Mira: You probably made that first one an uncompressed .JPG, sometimes if you do that or use a .BMP photobucket will resize it to be within a certain byte limit.

Read what theunliz said a couple posts back. Also make sure you are uploading snapshot.jpg and not the thumbnail.jpg.

uncompressed? Sry I am a newbie. I've uploaded snapshots, but photobucket keeps resizing them too small.

What's the size of the snapshots before uploading?

MCR: When you go to upload the pictures, are you uploading one called thumbnail_bunchanumbersandstuff or snapshot_bunchanumbersandstuff? Thumbnail is the image that shows in the blog format of your stories. Snapshot is the big one for story mode. Snapshot is normally towards the front of your storytelling folder and thumbnail is towards the back.

If you have university, it's C:/My Documents/EA Games/Neighborhoods/N001/Storytelling
The N001 is for Pleasantview. Strangetown is N002, Veronaville is N003, etc. etc.
Without Uni it's C:/My Documents/EA Games/Storytelling and they'll all bee together. Good luck!

You may also want to check your ingame camera settings! Set it to take the biggest picture, it's extremely easy, and it will make a world of difference. Not only will this actually help your pics look better, but it will get them to the EXACT size the mods want on this forum.

I was checking to see if the size of this pic would be 160x120 or 600x450.
When I uploaded to tiny pics, there was a message stating anything over 250K would be resized. At photobucket the message stated that anything over 512 would be resized. Both showed the pic as 160x120 pixels, but the image came across in its original size from tiny pics.

the biggest picture size i seem to get with the in game camera is 600x450. Maybe others are different. We allow 650x550 on the forum.

zeldap - You missed a [ at the start of your code, thats why it didnt work.
