Mortimer was afraid to open his eyes. He was determined not to have another psychotic break! “I will ignore it. It is all my imagination. I am not crazy! I’m not!”
His hands were at his side and he could feel his naked skin. Against his will his hand touched his stomach. It was swollen like a pregnant woman’s. And there was slight movement under the skin as if something was coming to life. Then the voices in his head broke through.
“This particular organic has been an excellent producer. We have brought to term, a significant number of high level implants, similar to you three fledglings, utilizing this system. It is an inferior, barely sentient creature known as human. Their only significant value is that the male of the species is an excellent incubator. And they are so primitive that the female is the primary incubator within the species.” Hisses and clicks of disbelief ensued.
Mortimer’s eyes opened despite his vow to ignore the episode.
The fledglings squealed, “Oh, look, it’s awake! It’s horrible! Can it get out of the chamber?”
“There is nothing to be afraid of. This unit is nearing the end of its usefulness. It is gaining consciousness more frequently. This will be its last incubation. Then it’s out the waste vent.”
“Can’t be too soon for me,” one fledgling proclaimed. “It’s just plain creepy” There were hisses and clicks of agreement from the other fledglings.
As the group moved on, the creature called Gral stopped for a moment before the tube. “Primitive as you are, there will be no waste vent for you. I will see to that!”
Morty was cold! He opened one eye, afraid of what he might see. It was a star filled sky. He sat up and looked around. He was on the grass in Brandi’s front yard and he was freezing.
He ran to the door and it was locked. He pounded and called Brandi. After a minute the door opened slightly and Brandi peeked out.
“Morty, where have you been,” she flung the door open and threw her arms around him, then stepped back? “Where are your clothes? Come in before you freeze.” Brandi kept talking as she led him in, “I still have all your stuff. It’s in my big trunk in the back closet.”
After Morty was dressed and Brandi fixed some food for him the strangeness started.
“I was so worried. The police looked for you for ages. They finally gave up, but I never did.
Morty looked at Brandi. “You act like I’ve been gone for years. And what have you done with your hair? I bet Dr. Ludwig is ready to recommit me again. Wait, I didn’t do anything violent again did I?”
“My hair has been like this for a while. Who's Dr. Ludwig?
“She’s your boss at the Simville Sanitarium.”
“The Sanitarium has been closed for years and I’ve never worked there. And I've never heard of a Dr. Ludwig. Morty, what’s going on? Tell me what has happened to you.
Morty told her everything he remembered, expecting her to run from him at any moment and call the police. She listened intently and when he finished she said, “Morty, you disappeared during the night, without a trace, seven years ago. You have to talk to the authorities. There’s an agency, the MIB, which I’ve been in contact with. They investigate things just like this.”
“Things just like what?”
“Oh, no, I’m not getting mixed up with that bunch. I will not be put under a microscope and poked at by government scientists. No! Forget it!”
Brandi agreed to drop it but two nights later there was a knock at the door. Brandi brought two people into Morty.
The man said, “Mortimer Goth? I am special agent Roxx Boulder of the MIB and this is my partner Gina Gulley. We need you to come down to headquarters for a little talk. Don’t mind the cuffs, it’s just regulation.
As Morty was led to the big black car, he looked back at Brandi. “How could you do this? I trusted you.”

Thanks for reading guys and for you comments. Yeah, it looks like Morty just keeps stepping into it. And he's still got a few more difficulties to deal with along the way.
|30th Oct 2007, 03:37 AM||Chapter 3. In Custody #106|
Once at MIB headquarter, Morty was led through a maze of corridors to the interrogation room. After hours of questioning, agent Boulder looked at his watch. “We better wrap this up for now. I’ve got that meeting with the Assistant Director. Let’s get him in a holding cell till later.”
“You go on Boulder. I’ll continue to question Mr. Goth. I’m sure I can get something useful if I keep digging.”
Boulder looked dubious. “Ok Gulley, but you behave yourself. We don’t want a repeat of the Walker incident.”
After Boulder had left, Agent Gulley turned to Morty. “I really think you can help us out here, Mortimer. Is it ok if I call you Mortimer?”
“Yes, that would be fine. But I don’t really think that I can tell you anything more.”
Gulley unbuttoned the top button of her jacket. “Oh, I really think you could tell me a lot, Morty. Can I call you Morty?”
“Uh….Yeah, I guess so.”
“Come sit on the couch, Mortypoo. Ok if I call you Mortypoo?”
Gulley pulled him down on the couch, hiked up her skirt and sat down on Morty’s lap. “Do you like my legs Mortypoo? I’ve been told I have fantastic legs.” She unbuttoned the next button on her jacket. I know how much you want me Mortypoo but we have to be very careful. Boulder noticed how you were looking at me and he really wants me. They all do.”
“What are you talking about?” Mortimer tried to get up but Gulley pushed him down, ripped off her jacket and started kissing him. Working at his buttons, she had his shirt off when the door flew open.
“Gulley!” Agent Boulder had returned.
She jumped up, releasing Morty, and he scrambled to his feet.
“I’ll escort Mr. Goth to a holding cell while you get yourself together, Gulley.”
Mortimer was led to a small cell and left to ponder, what next? Presently he heard quiet footsteps. Someone crept down the hall, unlocked the door and entered.
“Who’s there? What do you want? Agent Gulley, is that you? Are you……. naked?
“I know how much you want me. I can’t disappoint you. Come on Mortypoo.”
“Now wait a minute Agent. I don’t know why you’re doing this."
“Hey Gulley,” it was the guard. “Assistant Director Pinner is paging you. He sounds mad.”
“I have to get out of here Mortypoo. Pinner really, really wants me. If he found you here with me like this, he’d probably shoot you. See you later Mortypoo.
Morty sat down hard. “I hope not,” he thought.
Several minutes later, Morty heard a low muttered comment and a thud. Then quiet footsteps.
Mortimer jumped up. “Agent Gulley?”

I'm glad you're all so concerned with Mortypoo's welfare. I just can't seem to keep him out of trouble and I fear he has more problems ahead. Isn't it funny how we get so involved in the lives of our little people?
|3rd Nov 2007, 05:44 PM||Chapter 4. Out of the Frying Pan #112|
A dark cloaked figure appeared. “No, Mr. Goth. It is not the crazy Agent.” The stranger wore a mask and his voice sounded hollow and tinny as if disguised by an electronic device. “I am here to get you out and take you to a safe place. Come, you must hurry!”
At this point Morty figured, why not. He followed the mysterious figure past the unconscious guard and down a dark hall to a freight elevator.
The elevator took Morty and the stranger to the first level and an outside door. Morty felt the cool evening air on his face and he smelled the smell of freedom. The stranger motioned to Morty, “Come this way please, and hurry.”
“Oh no, I don’t think so. I’ll take my chances on my own.”
The cloaked figure grabbed for his arm. “You must come with me.”
Mortimer swung at the figure and knocked him down.
He ran to a nearby bike rack, jumped on a bike and pedaled off as hard as he could.
Mortimer headed out Old Woods Road. He was making good time until he hit a rock and the bike and Morty flew off the road in opposite directions.
He was awakened by someone poking at him. He opened his eyes and saw two very strange people looking down at him.
“He’s purty Pa. Can I have him?"
|3rd Nov 2007, 06:06 PM||Chapter 5. The Simbillies #113|
“Naw, Baby Girl, you had yur chance. You had a man and you let him get away. This uns fer the twins.
Mortimer was ushered roughly through the woods to a clearing and into a rusty, dilapidated trailer. There he met the Goobergumps and became aware that he had stumbled into Simbilly country. There was Pa and Ma and daughters Baby Girl and the twins, Billie Jo and Billie June.
As they entered Pa called out, “Hey gals, come see! I caught you a husband out in the woods.”
The girls rushed forward giggling and poking at Mortimer. “Oh Pa, a city dude. He’s real purty.”
The twins dragged a protesting Mortimer off to their room hugging and pinching and there he learned his fate.
“We’ll get wedded on Saturday and live here with Ma and Pa til you git us a cabin built.”
“But you’re just children. I can’t marry a child and I certainly can’t marry the two of you!”
“Oh no, we’re 14, almost old maids and we come as a package, Joe Bob.”
“But that’s against the law, and my name is Mortimer,” he protested.
“We cain’t have a husband with a city dude name like Mortymor, so we’re renamin’ you Joe Bob. An' Pa is the only law around here, and an official Justice of the Peace. When he finds out you got us both with child he’ll shoot you fer sur if you don’t marry us? The only thing Pa hates more than a runaway husband is the revenooers cumin’ to break up his still.”
“Wait, I am not going to touch either one of you!”
“Ya’ll don’t have to cuz we’re both already with child. Ya see, we’re in luv with Bubba Blister down the road. The Goobergumps and the Blisters have been feudin’ for years now and Pa would never let us marry a Blister, so you come along jus’ in time.” The girl looked toward the door. “What in tarnation is all that commotion out there?” There was the screeching of brakes and shouting. “We better see what’s happnin’. Come on Billie June, and lock that door. That’s how Baby Girl’s man got away.”
As soon as the door shut Morty ran to the window. He grabbed a small table and knocked out the already cracked glass. Once outside, he should have run but instead crept behind a scruffy bush at the side of the trailer. “What the heck is going on out there,” he wondered.

And I just loved the trailer trash hillbilly family!

now I feel really sorry for that guy...

I'm glad you are all enjoying Morty's difficulties. My ex-husband always told me that I had no sense of humor. Wots up with him?
Actually, the Goobergumps and the Blisters were part of an experiment to see if I could breed uglier Sims than those game generated townies. The poor things won a place in my heart and in my game and it just wouldn't be the same without them.
|7th Nov 2007, 08:03 PM||Chapter 6. The Beginning of the End #119|
There was the loud squawk of a bull horn being turned on and then a familiar voice. “Oh Mortypoo, come on out. I know how much you want me. Come out and I won’t disappoint you."
“What’s wrong Boulder. I know that you want me, you all want me, but my heart belongs to Mortypoo!”
“Alright Gulley, You’ve been asking for it and I’m going to give it to you right now!"
"Now, that's what I'm talking about!"
As Boulder stalked off to the cheers of the other agents, another car pulled up and Assistant Director Pinner exited. “What in the name of Sim is going on here? I’m getting absolutely no response over the radio.”
Pinner spotted Gulley behind the car. “Yeesh, Gulley! Get up off the ground and get yourself together. You are impeding this operation.” Get back to headquarters and wait for me in my office. We are going to have a very long and very serious discussion about your little idiosyncrasies."
Mortimer pulled himself away from the little drama. He turned to exit the scene and found himself staring into two very angry and ugly faces.
“Well, well, you must be the fancy man that Goobergump found for those slutty daughters of his. I can’t think of much worse than more little Goobergumps swarming all over. I guess if I get rid of you, that won’t happen.” His lips twitched and formed themselves into a fierce sneer. "First though, what is goin’ on out front anyway? Who are all those city dudes?”
Think fast Mortimer! “You’re Mr. Blister? Yes, yes of course you are. Well those are revenuers. They came to break up the Goobergump’s still. And they said that when they’re done here they’re going to the Blister place.”
“Revenooers? We’ll see about that. Come on Bubba."
Bubba looked Mortimer up and down. “So yer gonna marry the twins?" He looked angry.
“No, no. They love you. They talk about you all the time. They’re having your babies.”
“Babies? Aww, I luv them too but their Pa will never axcept me.”
“Wait, I’ve got an idea Bubba. You go out there and help their father protect his still and I bet that he will change his mind about you, especially when he finds out about the babies.”
“Yer right Joe Bob. I’m gonna try it.” Bubba ran toward the front.
‘It’s Mortimer, Mor-ti-mer…... oh never mind.”
Mortimer took off running into the woods. After he was far enough away that he could not hear the fight, he stopped to rest. Suddenly, appearing from behind a tree was the cloaked figure from the MIB headquarters.
“Oh, no! Not again.” He lunged for the figure and was grabbed and knocked to the ground by three strangely dressed men.
The cloaked figure dropped her hood and rubbed her red jaw.
“Make sure he’s really out, because if he hits me again I’ll have to kill him.” Come on, let’s get going. The sooner we wash our hands of this moron, the better.”
|11th Nov 2007, 11:04 AM||Chapter 7. Mortimer - Home at Last #120|
Mortimer was bound and gagged and carried roughly through the woods. At the edge of the trees he was dumped into the back of a gypsy caravan and bumped around over the roads for what seemed like miles.
Finally, the caravan came to a halt and he was pulled out, carried to the back door of a house, untied and dumped unceremoniously on the floor of a large kitchen.
Several people were looking at him with some surprise. There was a man in a white coat and stethoscope, a very handsome woman about his age and a small boy. Morty, by this time, was at the end of his rope and began demanding loudly to know why he was there. The little boy, frightened by the uproar, began to cry. It was then that another woman entered the room. He barely noticed her until she spoke.
“Father? Oh, Father, is that really you? I have been trying to find you for so long. I am so sorry that I chased you away.”
Morty turned in surprised. “Cassandra? My baby girl?” Morty held out his arms and Cass ran into them. “It was all my fault baby. I was a bad father. I wasn’t there for you.” They were both in tears as they held each other.
After a while, they regained their composure and Cass said, “Father, I have someone I want you to meet. This is Jonnie, your grandson.”
“Grandson? Come here young man and give me a hug.” Jonnie had recovered from his fright and was looking on in interest at the strange man. Mortimer leaned down and Jonnie hugged his newly found grandfather with great enthusiasm.
Mortimer straightened up and smiled at Margaret. “And who is this lovely lady.”
“This is my best friend and my boss, Margaret Sullivan. And I don’t know who this gentleman is…..uh, Margaret?”
“Oh, forgive me. The scene was so touching. This is our new Chief of Staff, Dr. Sam Anderson”.
Sam stepped forward and grasped Cass’s hand. “I’m charmed to meet you Cassandra. Are things always this exciting around here?”
Cassandra blushed. The man had a certain way about him. And he didn’t let go of her hand. She raised her eyes to his and was lost, as was he. They just stood there gazing at each other.
“Well, all right Mortimer,” Margaret said taking charge, “lets find you a room. I’ll bet you would like to get some rest. After we get you settled in, I’ll bring you some lunch. Come along with us Jonnie and tell your grandfather about how well you are doing in school. We’ll let the young folks get acquainted.”
Morty followed Margaret down the long hall with Jonnie trotting behind, chattering happily about the things a little boy who has just found his grandfather chatters about.
And as for Cassandra and Sam……

Thanks for your comments msnicolejones and leos pride. Only time will tell what will befall Alexander. Being a Goth, it probably won't be easy for him. Look up turmoil in the dictionary and you'll probably find a family picture of the Goths.

This is not a Wildean tale of a cursed painting hidden in an dusty attic. It is simply the story of a shy lonely little boy. You already know how Alexander's story starts, but to recap...
His mother, Bella, was the only one who took an interest in him and when she disappeared, he was totally lost.
His sister had a falling out with their father and left to start her own life.
Alexander and his father had no rapport-Mortimer just didn’t know what to say to the boy.
When Mortimer took up with Dina Caliente, he really thought it would be a good thing for his son. Alexander thought otherwise. He always thought of Dina as the “witch”. She was from the first, resentful and mean, scolding and telling his father lies about his behavior.
The real turning point came one day in late fall when Alexander came home early due to a power failure at the school. He head strange sounds coming from his father’s room. Always curious, he crept to the door and peeked in. There was his stepmother with a strange man.
He was not entirely sure what they were doing but he knew that it couldn’t be right. He must have made some small sound because they suddenly both looked up and saw him. The man jumped up and grabbed his arm.
“You little sneak. If you say anything about this I will have to hurt you badly.”
“Maybe you should give him an example Donnie, so he knows that you mean business.”
The man tightened his grip on Alexander’s arm and glowered down at him. Alexander twisted free, ran to his room and crotched behind his bed, trembling. He heard them laughing. Then the door slammed and the noises resumed.
His father was back to working excessively and the man visited often. They didn’t seem to care anymore if Alexander was home and he spent the time hiding behind the bed in fear.
Then came the day when Mortimer told Alexander that he was going to have a new little brother or sister. It was scary. The witch swelled up terribly. Alexander thought that she might pop. Well, he could only hope. Then one day there was a new baby girl. Her mother insisted that she be named Donna.
He was not allowed near little Donna but being that curious little boy, one day he sneaked into the nursery just to get a closer look. Alexander stared at the tiny life in awe. Just as he leaned forward to touch the wonderful little creature, his stepmother walked into the room. She was furious and chased him from the room, screaming threats.
Dina immediately when to Morty. “He is obviously very jealous of the baby and was going to hurt her. We have to nip this thing in the bud.”
His father was enamored by his beautiful wife and wanted to placate her, and so agreed that until the baby was a little older, they would send Alexander to live with Dina’s sister, Mina.
And so, that is the begining of Alexander's story. What will happen to him while in the care of his evil stepmother's sister? Will he be reunited will his family? Will his mother ever return? Will he find happiness or sorrow? Only time will tell.
