I dont want to use their 'preset' lots because they have none at the far edge of town 'away from it all' is there a way I can make my own lot and place it where I want? |

No. You can build on an empty lot, but you can't place a lot where none exists. |

I know... thats my issue, I was just wondering if I could you know make my own lot and put it where I wanted like in S2 instead of having to use EA's suggested placement |

Not as of yet. We're supposed to get a neighborhood tool soon after release to be able to do so. Stay tuned |

I'd suggest getting the Riverview "world" also. It has quite a few "off the beatten path" lots. |

I was very unimpressed with the Riverview neighborhood it does however provide a different town that you could delete all the buildings from and redo the entire thing using lots from the exchange and here. I think I may use it for that. |

I had to choose between beach front, or the biggest size lot. I also had to choose between evicting and not, replacing community or not. I'm sentimental, argh! It doesn't even have the most minute facet of fairness! I ended up not having beach front because they put the huge lots on a hill surrounded by a bunch of snobby houses. How can I build an oil rig there? I wanted to help make things green(and toxic)! Case in point: They should have included a lot designer so that I could put my own lot out there and surround it with lava or something that constantly flows into the ocean causing a thick layer of mist that I would charge for. I've played too many insane sims, already. ;-; |

I understand your pain. I wanted to build a gemstone museum for the sims, as a community lot. Firstly, there were too few empty lots to choose from, secondly they were littered in the middle of nowhere, and thirdly, when the lot was finally done, the stupid game calls it a PARK. |

I believe we should have the freedom to designate whether the park is recreation, educational, historical/museum based and so on. |

It was not a park. It should be gemstone museum and nothing else. And the stupid neighbourhood icons must go! Whenever I use the neighbourhood view it takes forever to find the lot I need to go, especially if it's some other sims house. |

The guys down at EA left a few good features out. Including this one. You should be able to choose the lot size and build just like you could on The Sims 2. Why they left this out i don't understand. I know it was one of my favorite features on TS2. |

This really bugs me too. You can move stuff around but still only onto existing lots - this is a major thing for me. In sims 2 all I did was build towns. Bit gutted but I am enjoying playing with the actual sims a lot more than sims 2 so can't complain too much. |

Remember that you CAN move or bulldoze the lots that are there. There's also a toggle to switch between residential and community lots. So if you see a location you like, for instance one of those remote fishing holes in SV, you can make that a residential lot and build a house there. Or if you want a new community lot downtown, bulldoze one of the swimming pools My main objection is that there's no way to add spawn points for fish, rocks, seeds etc to the community lots we make |

Why give us the tools if they can make more money by selling us small pieces of the game? I didn't know about the spawn points, but then again we don't need seeds and gems everywhere. Riverview hardly has any seeds and I have yet to find a gemstone in that town on the ground. The only one I found was by rummaging in a trashcan, and my sim still had a good life just by growing stuff in her garden. Besides you can't do much with them besides dispaly or sell. |

Riverview has lots of seeds and gems. You need to get the collector's reward if you want to be able to find them quickly. |

In Sunset Valley, I don't need the collectors reward, I just walk around the hood and I find them. I can see them on the ground and there are plenty in the town centre. In Riverview not so many. Maybe they scattered them out on the hills, but in the town centre and the area around my sims' house I found about 15 seeds in about 10 sim days. No gemstones, no space rocks, and no metals. |

Have you looked around Stonehenge, the mine, and the graveyard?

I posted this in some other thread a day or two ago, but I think the answer to why we can't place lots ourselves should be fairly simple to everyone -- these neighborhoods are pretty complicated. It's very likely that future expansion packs will build on the neighborhoods we've been given already, adding new lots and sections to the neighborhood. Most likely the spaces where there are no lots placed are reserved for future expansion. |

. I wonder if they will make it so that in a future expansion pack you will be able to place your own lots, and have multiple lots within a saved game, because the way I used to play the sims 2 was that I'd build sims that I wanted my other sims to meet and play their lives so that they interact with the other sims that I wanted, you don't have that option at all in this one, if you want your sim to start out unmarried and to find their perfect match you can only select from the NPCs already in the game, unless you make them instant housemates, but where's the fun in that?? I also was disappointed by the NPCs in the game, they at least had some decent looking ones in the sims 2 for your sims to meet, perhaps I'm just shallow and require my sim world to be full of beautiful people. |

Ok Cool, I read most of the manual that came with it to try and figure out if you can do that. Well that really helps me out, I thought that the guys at EA might have left that one out. Thanks for making myd day :D |
