So my Sim Winifred had a daughter. Being the only parent residing in the household, when Winifred died, the daughter was taken away.

I thought that children taken this way were at the front of the adoption queue, but I had another family adopt in the same age and gender, and I got a different kid. -_-;

Is the kid I want gone forever?

Have you checked in the town that another family hasn't already adopted her? From what I've read, there isn't a "adoption queue" - the child just gets put with another family straight away.

I just looked through all the houses, and I didn't see her... *sigh*

It's hard to tell which ones I've actually looked at, but I was pretty thorough. I wish the game would just TELL me where she went. This is just dumb.

Try this mod:

http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/s...ic,16355.0.html

It should help you find her. Go to any computer in town, open the menu, click "master controller" > "sim". That will bring up a box with all sorts of information. Find one that includes her (easiest would probably be "gender: female"). Click that, hit "okay". It'll bring up a list of all the females in town. If she is living somewhere, she'll be on that list. If she is, click her name and "okay", and it will take you straight to her. If she isn't in town, you could try on the computer "master controller" > "town" and go to "recover missing sims". This may or may not work. If it doesn't, there probably isn't a lot you can do.

It is possible that the foster family created to hold your child is stuck in the homeless bin and currently does not have a residence in town.

Another possibility is they have already moved out of town, EA Story Progression system, and are gone forever.

Good Luck.
