I was wondering if it's possible to convert sims 2 objects for sims 3? I imagine it would be, but I've no idea how. I've looked around on website's and through tutorials but haven't found anything. Mostly, I just find how to convert hairs, but I'd love to be converting a fair few objects for my sims 3 game Apologies if i've posted in the wrong section - but I figured meshing would be the correct one? Thank-you

No specific tutorials on conversion. But if you follow the available tutorials on cloning objects, you will find you can change almost everything about an object, and that would include using a mesh and texture images from a TS2 object. While the image format needs to change to DDS, a general level of compatibility exists. Be sure and start by cloning something compatible, you can't get computer behavior defaults by starting with a painting clone. If what you want to convert has custom BHAVs, you will need to do object script mods instead. |

If you like to say what you think, be sure you know which to do first. |

LemonCandy and JillianWong have done some sims2 >sims3 conversion (look in buy mode in download). I've started on some deco objects myself, but I have not mastered it yet, so good luck ![]() You'll need SimPE for cloning sims2 objects (find it in the sims2 create section) And the usual programs for sims3. All the essentials are in the tutorials

Converting objects from ts2 for ts3 isn't that difficult at all! IMHO(In my honest opinion) I think it is rather easy and I have never meshed before. I'm like you I want to convert everything from ts2 I am what they call a clutter junkie lol If I could I would never leave the house just sit in front of the computer converting all day long converting objects from ts2. |

Well, miss JillianWong, if you know how to do it, and think it is easy, why not write it down, to help others that also would like to know? |

Oh, I could convert all the objects too! Especially - there's this one creater at Black pearl sims, who, I basically love all of their items; which is what has inspired me to want to convert Sims 2 to Sims 3 ![]() I'd love to sit in front of a computer all day converting objects too, well, once I knew how >_< But. Holidays end soon, so i'll be back at school; Which is why i'm hoping to atleast learn the basic outline of how to do this - so then, I won't have to spend so much when i've got school. And thank-you to everyone's help and input so far

Converting decorative items that you don't plan on being CAStable is not that tough but if you want the item to be recolorable a conversion item is much more difficult because most often it will need to be remapped and baked at the very least. Often what this ends up being is a complete re-do of the original object. I wouldn't consider that a beginner's best choice for where to start with Sims 3 meshing.
