This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, World Adventures, Ambitions
Default Sims 3 Not Starting Up - Black Screen
The Sims 3 has been working fine on my computer since I installed it last June. But this problem of mine started when I updated my Video Card with the newest driver. My problem is that when I start the game, it goes into a black screen then goes back to desktop without any message. This started when I updated my Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT video card to the driver update 191.07.
Other more complicated games work fine. (GTAIV, Oblivion, Crysis)

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 3072MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce 9800 GT

A lot of people have problems with that driver. The last universally stable version is 186.18. Try installing it: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_186.18_whql.html Then restart your computer and try to play the game again.
