Hey guys. I am just wondering if anyone else is having this problem: I have installed World Adventures and updated to the new patch (unfortunately you have to) and when I start up the game I get to my saved games but when it begins loading a household my whole computer shuts down. It is driving me bonkers and I just would like to know if anyone else is having this issue. It is quite possible that my stinky graphics chip in my laptop can't handle WA, or is overheating my computer, but it just seems weird to me that my lappy can't even load the game. Thanks for any suggestions! |

In order to better solve your problem, please go through the following as listed below:
On occasion you might be asked to do a long FAQ - please make sure you do all the steps and don't just skip over them. You'll often find that these long FAQs have all the details you need. If nothing in the above FAQs fixes your problem you may post again detailing exactly which you have done and which steps failed. |

Well I had already removed all mods/hacks and cc before installing. Sure it loads faster but it did not fix my problem in the long run, just caused it to stay loading for a few seconds longer. |

Okay, I can get you some specs when I get home (on the cellular now). What I can tell you off the top of my head is I have a toshiba satellite 215-4757, win xp, 2 gig ram, 500 gig hd, and ati radeon x1200 (pooey grachics chip). |

Yeah, it certainly sounds like specs are at fault. When you get back to the laptop, in addition to the proper specs, please run this program for 20 mins or so on the laptop, then take a screenshot of it and attach that here. I would ask you to do the same while playing TS3, but evidently that'd be a bit pointless. |

Your computer does not meet minimum requirements to run the game. Your graphics are unsupported, and also older than the weakest IGP supported. Even if your graphics were supported, your CPU is weaker than a 1.8ghz C2D, so that wouldn't meet requirements either. Since that is a laptop, there is no upgrading. You didn't run the temp monitoring program that White linked you to. It may not tell us anything, because if it's running fine normally but only overheating due to the game, then we won't be able to see the temp increase. Normally you could run the program while you play the game, but since your entire computer crashes so quickly it would be difficult to save the necessary information before the crash. It still wouldn't hurt to run it without loading the game, since a lot of times computers that overheat during games will at least run hotter than normal otherwise. |

I did run it but when I went to post it the forum was down so here it is. I just find it weird that the base game runs just fine for me but WA won't go any further than loading. Thanks for the help! |

It's not showing much by way of temps... but CPU temps are awful for basic usage. What was running when you took those temps.. what programs did you have open? If it runs like that before you play the game it wouldn't take much for it to overheat. Make sure you always run your laptop on a hard flat surface with all four feet on that surface. Don't put it on your lap, couch, bed, padded chair, etc. |

Not much was running, just the basic stuff like internet and skype and antivirus. I usually sit in a chair and put my laptop on a stool, but let the front half hang off so that there is full air circulation up front. I also like to set it on a cooling rack for cookies. Once I had a cooling mat for it but that quickly burnt out. |

Well I somehow miraculously got my game up and running and the graphics look pretty good for what I have, but my computer died as I was saving (most likely overheated, but that isn't anything new with ts3, plus I had the heat on pretty hot.) Thanks for the help you two! |

I'd recommend you take careful care of that laptop, and maybe get it professionally cleaned - the trouble with laptops is that if you fry one component, you usually have to replace the whole thing: and temps like those are going to fry something sooner or later. |

I will see what I can do getting it cleaned. I have a warranty for Best Buy for another year or so I think. |
