Hi! I just bought The Sims 3 and I was wondering how I could make stairs without a hole behind them, like they were created by Maxis in The Sims 2? (remember: even the modular stairs were like that, except one I think) I saw some houses made by plasticbox with stairs with no hole behind them. My question might seem stupid but I don't have an access to the game right now and I barely tested the Build Mode... Thank you! Ciao! |

I think s/he means the little triangular shaped void beneath the stairs. To make the stairs surrounded by a wall, you simply have to build them inside. |

Yes, I mean the "triangular-shaped void beneath the stairs"... Sorry for my bad English, I didn't know how to say it properly... I tried to build stairs inside, but they still have a void beneath them. Perhaps do I have not to remove the automatic roof when I build stairs inside? Actually, before building the fourth wall which closes the room, I remove the automatic roof to let the room be quite bright. So, how can I have stairs without a void beneath them? And, above all: how can I make outside stairs with FOUR steps (foundations) without a void beneath them? I can imagine that it is easily possible to have outside stairs with no void by creating walls before creating stairs and then remove the walls, but only in the case of stairs which go to the first story... I can't figure out when it deals with foundation stairs... Thanks for helping me! Ciao! PS: tomvanroosmalen: you can say "he", I'm a male... |

Oh, sorry mate. Okay, first question. Some stairs that have to have voids beneath them indoors. I think the modern stair from the Ultra lounge set is not able to have walls beneath it. Whether autoroof or not, you should be able to place them and have the wall underneath.' Second Question, you are right in saying that you CAN have foundation stairs without voids. It does involve walls, just use CFE to put the walls around near where you place your stairs, and then place them, then turn CFE off. If you don't know what CFE is, its constrainfloorelevation false. to turn it off, its constrainfloorelevation true Hope this helps, |

All of the stairs in TS3 (vanilla game) will generate those stair walls underneath – if, and only if, they're built inside a room fully enclosed by actual walls (not foundation). Could be that store-bought stairs lack this feature, of course – I only ever used those that come with the game. |
