Hi, just to tell, this is my first post in ModtheSims : Anyway, I've been having trouble lately with the sideways garage method. Here's the problem: I already tried placing the lot in different directions just so I can get the right placement to make my desired driveway direction. Also, of course I delete the opposite corner tile by the street. Well everytime I do so, IT DOES change directions...but then it will only turn facing the street of the lot. Please take note that I tried moving the lot at every direction possible. Also, as regards to the shadows, it always never changes. The sun still comes from the northeastern corner of the lot. I also tried corner lots. It didn't work. I also tried putting it into the bin just to see if any settings will reset, and then placed it on another neighborhood. Still didn't work. Now this is extremely excruciating for me, since I worked long and hard for the house, only to be stopped by the garage. It will be nice if someone could find a way that I don't have to make a new lot and scratch the current one. If needed, I will post some pictures of the problem here, though, it might take a while since The Sims 2 is in the other computer with no internet. Please and thank you~! :D |

The trick here is not to move the lot around .. it's to *create* the lot with a different orientation. The orientation (including the sun) is hardwired into the lot when it's created; it can't be changed afterwards. Unless someone made a new tool that I'm not aware of (I stopped playing TS2 a year ago) – that "someone" would very likely be Mootilda, so look at her downloads to see what tools are available, perhaps there is a way to fix this. |

yanrikz07, May upload the lot file to a file host, and give me a link. I'll mod the lot file directly to see if works on your case first. |

niol, are you considering trying to rotate the lot by modding all of the different records in the lot package? That's a lot of work to do by hand. |

No, I'm trying to mod the placeholder(s) of any driveway there to try to see if I can rotate them in such way to further prove the manual object-rotation can extend to game versions up to EP8. I've no such version installed yet. I've to clean my game drive space some bits to accomodate more. That way I can also check those related versions BTW but not necessarily in this way. The following is only for those who may be confused and concerned. 1. plasticbox had already pointed out what OP apparently misunderstood from the tutorials based on OP's description. 2. What we're trying is to make the lot work without a rebuild of such lot. |

niol had just fallen down as he saw megaupload linkage which he can't access due to "senser-ship". He currently can access mediafire, DepositFiles, rapidshare, FileFactory, 4Shared, BadOnGo and many others if there's not a real problem to others... ![]() Obviously he should have told the exceptions instead before. :slaps: He can't access megaupload, Taringa, nakido, and a few more but less common. |

Oh, I'm terribly sorry about that niol, I didn't know that happens there. Anyway, here is the file taken from mediafire~ http://www.mediafire.com/?juzjrjt0knm Btw, it probably needs all the expansions...but you most likely have them anyway. :D |

You can easily see which EPs people have by checking out their profile. Just click on niol's name to access his profile. niol, might I suggest that it would be easier to just create an appropriate test lot yourself (unless you've already managed to download the lot)? |

Unfortunately, niol doesn't list out all EPs and game versions in his profiles because he plays multiple game versions. Such check may be useful in some cases but not in niol's personal cases. Indeed, I should have mentioned how to extract the lot package file from the neighbourhood folder of the custom game folder from "my documents". yanrikz07, Welcome to ask more questions when confused. ![]() you may use windows explorer to browse to the my document > EA games > sims 2 > neighbourhood > N??? (where ??? is the neighbourhood number for the neighbourhood where your lot is at). You may save the lot once right before you click on the "modified date" column title at the detailed view of the windows explorer. The file which is latest modified is the file you can copy somewhere else and zip or rar it to send me a copy. That's the way I can help with coz I'll mod the lot packge file directly. Then, I'll send that back to you for the following doings: 1. open the lot in-game. 2. use the hand tool to move the driveway object. 3. click undo until no more undo. 4. check out if the driveway moves to your desired place or direction 5. if so save the lot. Also, you may wanna draw me a simple grid graph to show me exactly where you want your driveway be located and directed. I need know of this info in order to try to help you back. Sorry, I didn't realise and think of more detailed instructions to ensure a faster approach. That's my bads. I've not finished clearing up my drive for further EPs of TS2. So, currently that's out of question. |

yanrikz07, sorry to bother you one more thing. Can you save a driveway in your lot before sending coz I need the presence of a driveway in order to alter it. Sorry I didn't mention in advance, my mistake.

Hi! I'm sorry I was unable to respond soon to your request niol. I was caught up in something. Anyway, I have done and taken the lot from the Lots folder! Though, one things puzzling me, what's the difference between packaging the lot to just saving it and taking it from the Lots folder? Well, yeah...it is a lot smaller but, does it remove special content and stuff? So well, here it is again! :D N106 Lot137 And I also tried making that map you needed, though, I don't exactly think I got it right. Also just in case, I placed red tiles right next to where I want the garage doors to be, and a driveway. Though, the car will still function without the driveway and just with the extension...right? Because I can't really make a straight drive from the road... ![]() Well I really don't know what I'm partially doing now...But I guess you can figure out what to do.

The reason why I asked for a lot copy with the driveway object saved in it is that I need a driveway object in the lot in the first place in order to alter its related in-lot data. And then, you install it back to your game. Then in game, you move the driveway, and then click undo till no more undo. At least, save the lot despite completely undone. What really happen should be that I'm altering the driveway placeholder values to alter its orientation and location. updated: packaging the lot VS saving it and taking it from the Lots folder 1. I can easily mod the lot package file directly. 2. you just need to plug that modded file back in directly. 3. much smaller file size; I need no custom content while you save a fuss to save a lot only cims2pack. (the earlier file took me more than an hour to download just to get the only the lot file!) 4. SimPE open the package file directly without exportation or extraction; I don't know hot pack it back, but renaming and placement in he lot catelog follder may work out. more uncertainties. 5. maybe more, The saving is to help you find out which file, based on modified time without opening it up in simpe. Anyway, back-up the files probably versioned according to the date. Working on it now... |

Just to keep you update... I've located the driveway files last night, will work on them tonight. ![]() A good thing you did while I forgot to mention is that you included the shadow direction in the pic, or I've a harder time to trace out where to count.

Sorry for my late response. I've to admit at first I got so distracted other daily matters and myself. The earlier poast I've made stated I 've found the objt files, but I failed to find the correspondiong xobj files. In a later "empirical" test, I've realised the followings: 1. Upon an addition of a driveway, 2 objt files were added into a lot package file. One is the driveway while the another one is the corresponding social circular object. 2. Only 1 xobj file was added and it's the corresponding counterpart of the social circular object. No xobj file found for driveway. 3. Upon addition of a driveway extension, the same happened accordingly. Thus now, my approaches become 1st. an attempt to alter the objT values 2nd. a matching extra xobj file to see if it does affect. If the first works out nicely, I may withdraw the second approach. Yet, I'll leave it as an interest to me. PS, finally, cleared up my HD enough and have finished installed all necessary EPs.

This matches my experience when I started working on the LevelAdder: not all OBJT records have a corresponding XOBJ record. Wow, I just noticed that you did a major update of the OBJT record in the wiki. Thanks so much. |
