I love this site to bits, but I am getting more and more infuriated with the dislike button under each post.

When people post pictures and someone is disliking them, it is a negative way of feedback probably making the person feel bad about the pictures they have posted or the Sims they have created, and no one wants that. This site is for a bit of fun so nobody should be judged negatively - who agrees?

Maybe if enough people think they should remove the "Dislike" button, it might be done . If not, I tried lol.

EDIT - Ok I got it wrong - "DISAGREE button" sorry! Still means the same thing when people are constantly pressing it on peoples pictures though.

Please, Call Me Lou :D

Just ignore it - people will be disagreeable no matter what you do - if they don't click a button, they'll post something snarky. The buttons aren't going anywhere.

It's a "disagree" button not a "dislike" button... I think you're a little paranoid.

There's nothing wrong about the disagree-button. Sometimes people have to disagree something because they know it's wrong but they don't know the right answer so this button is better than responding with "I don't know but that's wrong that way" in the forums

I don't think anyone here would really click that for someone's artwork, though, or sims.
However I think it should be there because people are going to disagree and you shouldn't just go around pretending everything is positive.

Go check out the picture forums, people do click it for other's sims.

I like the buttons and am glad they are staying. The fact that people will use them vindictively (like clicking 'funny' to serious posts in the debate forum) is unavoidable, sadly.

I'd much rather have people be honest with me. I hate it when people lie about their opinions on my work-- it's just insulting imo; much more insulting than saying "this sux lololoolo".

I'm sure there's a troll who keeps clicking it for things that don't need it, and the funny button. 12 year old, probably.

Lol I'm not being paranoid...I don't think I have had more then one person "disagree" my pictures, I was talking on behalf of other people where every single picture they put up is being "disagreed" which is discouraging in some cases. I'm not making out it is a major issue, just a little annoyance!

It seems to be an incredibly recent phenomenon (the disagrees I see in the picture threads are all in the past 10 days) and completely unrelated to the quality or the content of the photos (except for a few photos depicting same-sex couples that racked up two disagrees instead of just one). So...there's a 12 stalking the picture threads. I strongly suspect spillover from whatever social group all the people who are being "disagreed" with belong to.

You really shouldn't spend too much attention to those buttons. If people really have to say something they should write a post instead of just hitting a button.

lol @ the, like, 9 disagrees in this thread.

and i don't really see why people are disagreeing with other pictures, unless it's very inappropriate

I don't mind the buttons at all, they allow people to be honest with each other. If you want to get butthurt over someone disagreeing with how SUPA KEWL your Sims or CC are, feel free to tell them about it in a PM. There are no snowflakes here.

Good example: Someone blatantly ripped off one of my challenges and posted a disclaimer saying otherwise. The disagree button on that post got quite a workout, let me tell you.

3 positive buttons to 1 negative button which isnt even rude is a pretty good ratio.

personally i want a " huh? " button. because there are just some posts that confuse me that much.

" fuck you " or " go to hell " on buttons would be much... more expressive than " disagree ". disagreement is quite mild.
and theres no consequence for anyone being rated down. theres no hiding of the post or its not somehow de-popularized.

I like the agree/disagree buttons, it saves the threads from clutter.

Sometimes before I write a reply, someone else writes exactly what was on my mind. Is there any point to write a post that is basically nothing but "Me too"? In that case, clicking the button seems to be more efficient way to express my opinion.

Besides, clicking the button is a way to join the discussion even for those who are too shy or feel their English still needs some improvement.

I find it pretty petty when you post pics of, say, your sims in a related sims picture thread, and someone "disagrees" with it. WTF? What are they disgreeing with exactly? That you think your sims are nice and they don't? I think there are some fairly immature people out there who should get a life instead of anonymously pressing a "disagree" button without having the guts to post why they disagree exactly. That's fairly pathetic in my book.

Those pics are meant for sharing and enjoying, not nitpicking at how ugly or cute a sim is. Honestly, some people!

I think we should also have a "don't ever do this because it screws up your game", and a "troll" button.

And it might help if you can't push a button on your own posts.

Pretty please?

How about we have no buttons? Seriously, this "like", "dislike" thing is seriously over-played. It's on every single website, now. ;^\ This post will get a million dislikes anyway, but seriously. Not every website needs this feature, and it's nothing but a sell-out, IMO.

i actually always thought this was a funny scenario for exactly this reason.

" heres my picture! "
" OBJECTION, YOUR HONOR! "
" what? "
" idk. "

A sell-out? Having agree/disagree buttons has somehow compromised the integrity of the site? How so?

I find it intriguing that people assume "disagree" = "dislike." I can disagree with the comment you made without disliking it or you. And I can agree with what you say without liking you one little bit. Mostly though, I'm just neutral about strangers posting on a forum. Except for my forum crushes.
