I recently updated my game to patch 1.14 and tried to download some things from the store, but I kept getting a strange error message. The launcher does come up (after....forever...), but it can't download anything. I have attached screenshots from this.

I've used the store before without problems, but it was on a previous patch. At first, I thought maybe there was a problem with not being properly logged into both the launcher and the actual site, so I quit the launcher, made sure I was logged in, and tried to redownload from the "purchase history" page. Unfortunately, the same thing just happened again.

EDIT: Just noticed something else. Installing sims3packs (i.e. custom lots I've downloaded) is proving to be more of a pain than I remember. I have to make sure the game is completely closed (including the launcher) before I double-click on the sims3pack, or it opens a new instance of the game, causing the launcher to freeze. To me, this almost seems like an unfortunate function of how macs handle applications, but I don't know...

Have you tried accessing your purchase history with the in-game shop mode browser? I have the same problem and it's the only way I can get store-content in my game.

Sorry, then I cannot be of any assistance regarding borked store-downloads
A (probably stupid) question about your sims3package-issues; have you tried putting the packages you wish to install in the The Sims 3 downloads directory, then selecting them in the launcher and ask it to install? In my experience, this takes far less time (plus it's more convenient if you have a bunch of files).

Actually, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the tip. Fortunately, after screwing around with it a bit, I was able to get the sims3packs to install alright by using the activity monitor to close out the extra instance of the game. I had to do that every time, though, so needles to say it got kind of old. I'll definitely try it your way next time!

Sadly, no luck with the store download problem, though
