It looks good at the moment I'm not so sure about the rodeo drive bit, i would like to see how you improve that area, it seems like a seriously miniature version at the moment

It's ok, we all laugh-snort occasionally!
Check out some of my other stuff here.

The problem is that in The Sims 3 there aren't so many rabbitholes... I guess I'll have to make more residential buildings there...

It looks very good! Rather than putting residential buildings there, you could create some shells of stores, shops, etc. They would look good even if there is nothing inside.

Check out JYNX's CUSTOM RABBITHOLES - With these you can construct a building however you like in order to keep the theme, make them size appropriate, etc.

Whenever this world will be uploaded, I will make a golden statue for you I needed a Los Angeles World for a sim story I have in mind and this would be perfect

Anyway, looks really good to me, at the moment. Can we have an overall view of the "map", too? =)

Oh, by the way... which expansion packs will be needed for this?

Well, I have WA and Ambitions installed. A view of the map available soon, maybe tomorrow So, by now I have the Chinese Theatre and Griffith Observatory as LA typical landmarks. I wanted to create the Santa Monica Pier, but anybody knows how I can build on water? If I put there a lot, the ground underwater gets the grass texture, and it's horrible to see grass underwater! Any ideas?

it will only look like that from far away in CAW, when you place it, just apply the terrain paint and there will be no more grass.

works for me. :P

I second this. Having shells would be really useful for people with Ambitions who want space for salons and laundromats and the fire station and stuff, and also Light Night is out in the autumn which will mean people will need space for clubs and bars.

I think it looks good. I've never been to LA so my opinion probably doesn't really count for much but I think this is a cool idea.

This place seems to be coming along very nicely! And I also agree with the custom rabbit holes, so then you can make Rodeo Drive look more realistic! And this world would go very nicely with Late Night when its released!

I thought so too, but when I exported the world and installed it, it happened the same as in CAW...

This is really awesome!!! Where and when can i download it....and alo the only thing that i think is wrong with it is that not all of the homes should look the same. Your should put some more homes with some spanish roofs and you should also throw in some mansions for the movie stars.

Remember that I come from Polish , my sentences are translated by www.mtranslator.pl .
So sorry for any mistake in spelling or in something else.
You also know that I have a great experience when it comes to building so you might want to listen to my advice .
If you add Late Night .
This insert many of the skyscrapers and have a variety that is more like: I do this part where the skyscrapers are generally city and where they are detached houses.

So, here there are some pics:
Starbucks in Hollywood

Chateau Marmont Hotel in Hollywood (which will become a club or a hangout place, not decided yet)

Wilshire Boulevard downtown

As soon as the map is completed, I'll post picture of that too.
If you have any advice maybe about a building in LA that you would like to see in the game, tell!

I love it!

Capitol Records building, for sure, if you don't have that already! Your Mann's Theatre looks great!

Are you doing any beaches? I know you said Long Beach and Malibu are out, but are you doing Santa Monica & with the pier and/or Venice with the canals and muscle beach?

Congrats on tackling the USA's two biggest cities! =)

Congrats on tackling the USA's two biggest cities! =)

So:
thanks for reminding me of Capitol Records Bdg, of course I will build it
Actually I built Santa Monica pier (I'm thinking about the wheel right now... there's just NO way it can be done!) and a boardwalk with a club and some shops.
Now, Venice... On that side of the city there's also LAX. I want to make a realistic town, so LAX should be there, but I also think that it would make the whole town look ugly.
So if I want to build a nice and quite big Venice I will have to move LAX somewhere else (just like I decided to delete Marina del Rey and olny build Long Beach Naval complex).

Yeah, a Ferris Wheel simply doesn't exist in The Sims' world yet. I look forward to seeing how you do that! =)

Venice would just be fun to see because of the canals and the boardwalk. Plus, having the canals would open you up to more residential lots.

But it looks great so far, so I know no matter what you decide, it'll still be an amazing map!

By now I'm working on the Highway, something very typical of LA and that is taking me su much time... But it's getting really great! Fortunately LN added so much good stuff for CAW, building a city and not an usual suburb is really easier now.

That's how the map looks so far (please notice that the map and the terrain painting aren't ready yet!

HI! You are doing a fantastic job on LA. :0) It's important to get the landmarks in there correctly. However, I would advise you to be careful of that Starbucks lot. They are very particular and protective of their trademark and have gone after other TS2 creators who made and distributed starbucks lots.

Busy mashing meshes.

As far as I know there are lots of Starbucks lots online, there's also a Starbucks objects set ( all for TS2 )... I guess there's nothing bad in it, I mean... I don't get a penny for this and all they get is good advertisement.
