I'm posting on behalf of whitewaterwood, who is getting a "Server Not Found" error when trying to connect to MTS and the Wiki. Is there a reason this is happening? Is this a problem on her end?

This allows me to see into the minds of people! That's right, I can actually see what they're thinking!
So long as what they're thinking is exactly what I think they're thinking.

It seems likely that it's a problem at her end as, you and I are not getting the "server not found" and neither are aprox 1788 others!

Can she connect to any other web sites?

Someone at Simbology has this error too if she tries to access MTS.
It happens only with this site.

Are they trying modthesims2.com or modthesims.info?

Tumblr - Yes, I have a blog. :)

<Corsix> Why 'mod the sims 2' when you can mod 'mod the sims 2'?

Maybe the site when down for a few seconds and their ISP cached the error. Tell them to go into command prompt (Run --> CMD.exe) and type in "ipconfig \flushdns"

I don't know how it is on other peoples computers but, If I type, http://www.modthesims2.com into the address bar and hit enter, It changes to http://www.modthesims.info so, I'm not sure if that is the problem Delphy!

Obviously not or I wouldn't be able to post here.

I know for sure she tried modthesims.info but she said she tried some other links too and none of them worked. It happens for about a week now.

It works for me too, the other links (modthesims2.com and modthesims.info) are working too. The problem is that for some people none of them is working.

Tell her to do as ShanOw suggested (though I think that should be /flushdns, not \flushdns?).

It's posted over there already (someone beat me) but I'll tell them about /flushdns. And there is now another one with this problem.

Okay, she's tried the /flushdns thing, the link suggested on Simbology, clearing her cache and trying another browser. None of those have worked for her so far, I'm afraid. What else could be causing it?

I've no ides. Tell her to open cmd and type in TRACERT modthesims.info. That should tell her where on the route the problem lies.

She tried it, and it read "unable to resolve target system name modthesims.info".

Then it's a DNS issue. If flushdns didn't work, she'll just have to wait a few more days for the recent DNS changes to propagate naturally.

I'm having the same problem, with both FF and IE. Starting a few days ago, I cannot access the site, unless I use a proxy or my smartphone.

Cache, dnsflush, all cleaned.

Are you blocking IP's, or a range of IP's?

If we were blocking your IP, you wouldn't get a server not found error; you'd get a "Your IP has been blocked" error. This is a DNS problem - it's not on our end, there's nothing we can do about it.

Amjoie and some others at Custom Sims 3 was saying they had the same error. I had it for several days myself, but it cleared up on its own eventually.

I am Ghost. My husband (who made the account because I was too shy) is sidneydoj. I post, he downloads, and I wanted to keep my post count.

I've also had the same problem since Friday. As long as the DNS changes go through and it will eventually work, I don't mind. I just hadn't been able to even find anything about what was going on until I thought of using a proxy to check here.

I'm also seeing this. I can only access modthesims.info through a proxy, now.

dnslookup says:

Name: "www.modthesims.info"
Error: No such host is known. (11001)
Time: 1279.142 ms
Alternate 2 (W2KPro and up):
Error: DNS server failure.
(9002)
Time: 1199.355 ms

ipconfig /flushdns doesn't help.

I'll just sit tight till the DNS changes propagate...

You can always try using Google's Public DNS service...
