I looked in the FAQ and Wiki for this and couldn't find the answer. I wanted to have my Sim buy a junkyard, but it isn't available for purchase (my Sim can afford it, it is not a money issue). This is a custom junkyard I built, so I want to make sure I haven't neglected some essential to make the game allow it to be bought, or if the junkyard type lots are just not for sale at all. I'm looking to make an away from home workplace for my inventor, so if a junkyard can't be bought, I'll try rezoning it to generic 'no visitors allowed' and see if that works. |

You can't buy a junkyard if your game is patched. |

Thanks. I'll try something else, then. |

Interesting, I didn't know that. Can you rezone the junkyard as a large park or something and buy it then? |

I didnt want tp patch after reading that, but I did it anyway and I can still buy it. Is it TS3 or Ambitions that needs the patching? Either way I know Im all patched up and playing a game I created only last week |

Yes, I can purchase it rezoned as a library. I tried first making it a generic lot, both a no visitors and visitors allowed type, but that wasn't purchasable either. Also, I've noticed neither of the parks in Sunset Valley, Central Park or Maywood Glen, were available for purchase. Are we not allowed to buy parks, either? I am able to buy fishing spots, the beach, the library, consignment stores, public pools, cemeteries, hangouts and laundromat but not parks, the art museum or the gym. Not that I'm trying to buy them all, I'm just clicking on them to see what comes up as purchasable so I can decide what will work best for my inventor's workplace. I already knew that the salon and fire station were not for sale. ETA: Everything I reported above was while I was trying to buy properties by clicking on their icons in map view. I've since learned that some properties that don't come up as purchasable that way are purchasable via the 'check real estate' option on the computer. Junkyards are still not purchasable, and generic community lots in both visitor and no visitor varieties are not purchasable. But lots like parks and the gym are. | |

Sounds like a personal problem to me.. I can buy anything I want. I have a feeling you do not have enough cash yet to purchase expensive lots OR you have a mod f***ing up your game. |

I have the cash, as I said in my original post. I was able to buy the lot by rezoning it, it cost something in the 45k zone, I had 136+k. |

Feeling like a bit of a chat about creation or just... whatever (not necessarily sims)?
