When ever I try to play the game, it decides to not play. When I click the thing, the launcher pops up. As usual. And I press 'Play'. As usual. Then nothing happens. I can hear the game whirring up, like it usually does. But nothing happens. Here's the thing that is odd. If I go to the 'Processes' tab on the Task Manager, TS2 is up and working. On the 'Tasks' tab, however, nothing. I went through the game help, I ended background tasks, I uninstalled then reinstalled it, nothing. Any idea why? EDIT: Whoops. Thought I was posting in the help section. |

My daughter's game was doing that. We updated the driver and she can play now. |

This may sound like a stupid question, but how do I update the driver? |

Try deleting your cache files. I had this problem and I did this and it works now. Go to the Help FAQ's if you need to see what files to delete. |

Yep, try that. It's the "accessory.cache" and "group.cache" folders you need to delete (you'll find those in your Sims 2 folder). Also check your game is patched. That's all I can think of now cos I'm not a techno whiz.

Ain't this an interesting predicament. I don't have any cache files to delete. |

your computer is hiding your hidden files. You need to go to folder options and unselect the box that says hide hidden files. Then you should be able to see the cache files. Updating the driver fixed this problem for me. Has the game run before? Or have you never got it working? |

The 'hide files' thing is unchecked. And yes, I've had it work before. It just out-of-the-blue refused to work. And I repeat myself: How do I update the drivers? |

Updating drivers couldn't hurt but I'm wondering how long you wait for the window to appear before giving up? Mine is terribly slow at opening at first, most likely because of the massive size of my downloads folder, so there's quite a wait between the time I tell it to launch and the time the window actually appears on my screen. If you're waiting several minutes though and nothing ever happens then you should go through the FAQ and see if any of those steps will fix it. |

The game help forum can be found under Help > Sims 2 > Main Page (scroll to the bottom). Also, Game_Help:Graphics_Cards#Downloading_New_Graphics_Driverswiki. |
