i uninstalled sims 3 and it wouldnt let me re-install it an error come up saying sims 3 cyclic redundancy check how annoying! at this point i was nearly crying but i read up about it and i downloaded it from EA Download Manager
and it seems now to be installed but its in the folder

C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

when i add a mod (package) folders the downloads dont show up so i put the mod and package folder in

C:\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages
the downloads are showing up and it says could not find a valid directory to install to!

  • Sims 3 - Verify 1.12/AMB Mods folder and resource file
    1. What is your gameversion? How_to_find_your_GameVersion

Copy and paste the first line of the skuversion.txt from the following locations, for whichever games you have:
      C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin
      C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 World Adventures\Game\Bin
      C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 High End Loft Stuff\Game\Bin
      C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Ambitions\Game\Bin

      Quote:
      BG: GameVersion =
      WA: GameVersion =
      HEL: GameVersion =
      AMB: GameVersion =
    2. Take a screenshot of:
      • Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\
      • Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\
      • Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages
... and attach them to a post on this thread? Click Go Advanced and then Manage Attachments.
We have a guide on how to do this if you need assistance: Game_Help:Screenshotswiki.

Make sure you set your folder view to Details mode and expand out the Name and Type columns so they're fully readable.

    3. Open your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\resource.cfg file in Notepad and copy-paste its contents here.

    4. Right-click on Resource.cfg and check Properties. Is the file name Resource.cfg or Resource.cfg.txt or something else?

Don't use the Helper Monkey. Just put them in My Documents\Electronic Art\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages - the "valid directory" error is due to using the Helper Monkey.

If you continue to have issues, please provide the above-asked-for information.

The link to your last pic didn't show up so I can't see inside your Mods\Packages folder and there's no file extensions showing on the Resource.cfg, but the contents of the Resource.cfg are definitely wrong.

Delete the one you have now and download this one:

http://skuld.modthesims.info/Resource.cfg

Make sure you turn on file extensions - it'll help a lot in installing custom content!

That's the same pic as before - that's of My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\ - the one you were missing was of Mods\Packages. Did you try removing your existing Resource.cfg and replacing it?
