Yeah, I just had to Install my game cos my computer got a virus and everything had to go. So, I got my computer back, reinstall my game, patch it and play it to make sure every was ok. Then I started looking for my fave hacks and this happen. My family sims life time wanted to be a criminal mastermind. Yeah, I fine this funny cos I know this is not what a family sims wants and it was just as funny as the time when one of my sims kids wanted to buy a bar. Oh, my. Sorry, I just wanted to share that and ask do I have to worry about this glitch? Anyway, thanks for reading.

I dont know if the moon is at a funny angle but I have family sims acting like knowledge sims, knowledge sims acting like romance sims and romance sims acting like well anything but romance sims except being a little commitmentphobic. I think I have had the family sim rolling a want to be a criminal mastermind before and my game didn't implode or anything so maybe theres nothing to worry about, although I am anything but an expert on the sims only being playing for a year next week (just think I used to have an actual life a year ago this week haha!). |

samsketty21: your family sim isn't the child of a criminal mastermind by chance? I have noticed and I vaguely recall reading somewhere that this does happen, that family sims will often get the LTW to follow the same career path as a parent. I get family sims all the time that want to be a mad scientist because their knowledge father was. I think that's pretty cool. simsamu: That isn't all that strange, actually. No matter what their aspiration is, their wants will vary depending on how you play them. Say, you have a family sim that you have skilling pretty hard for a promotion, they will start rolling knowledge wants like maxing a skill and so on. |

Also, if you happen to have the MATY director's cut, there is a hack that makes LTWs related to personality, not aspiration. That could be causing the weirdness too. |

In an unmodified game, LTW is based solely on aspiration. Criminal Mastermind is available to Knowledge or Wealth. So either your family sim has Knowledge or Wealth as a secondary aspiration, or you have a hack such as Pescado's ltwvariety which changes the rules. Wickedblue, you are thinking of Pescado's mod because family careers is one of the factors he uses. |

On my site I have dozens more Sims 2 mods. These mods come with no support so use them at your own risk. |

wickedblue: No, she is a newly made sim in a new neighborhood. And I have made some more sims that seem to want to take over the world. Then again there was that knowledge sims who wanted 20 lovers or some thing like that. Cyjon:the only powerful hack I have so far are the SimBlender and InTeenimater. And a long with christianlov Vampire Hacks. Anyway, it's just funny to see this happening. If any thing I can fix it with SimBlender if need be. Thanks for the info guys. |

I vaguely recall that one of the patches (either Seasons or AL) did cause all my sims to reroll all their LTWs. And if your sim has a secondary aspiration, then either could be rolled for LTWs. |

Okay, this is weird. And before anybody tells me what hacks I must or must not have in order for this to be possible, the only hacks I have are Izza's Freakin Gigantic Townie Replacement Mod, the Engagement Memory Fix, and Abduction Higher Odds. For objects I have a few windows and the batbox. All my other custom content involves walls, floors, clothes, and hair. I downloaded some lots yesterday, but apparently didn't install them properly as they don't show up in game. I do not have FreeTime and therefore have no secondary aspirations. I don't look at LTWs very often, but they sometimes pop up in the course of waving the cursor around over the information block doing other things. So yesterday I saw that a Pleasure sim, who started the game with a LTW of 50 1st Dates, now wants to be a Criminal Mastermind?!? I move on the next lot, where I check the aspirations for my baby machine and her husband. She started the game wanting to be Minister of Education and he started with Graduate Three Children from College. I've been thinking he was on the verge of permaplatness, since the third child just started his junior year. So I check. She now wants to be a Criminal Mastermind and he wants to reach his Golden Anniversary. Furthermore, she's pregnant and when I last played them, they both had the Have a Baby Want locked. Now, they have nearly identical wants - make friends with somebody they met between play sessions, add some skill point, flirt with each other - all except "flirt with each other" abnormal for them. These people want to do things with their kids and each other, have babies, and not much else. The baby is due today and if they don't go platinum it'll be hard to get them through it. Everything looked normal when I shut them down last time. The kid who just aged up to teen has a normal LTW for her aspiration and I forgot to check the one who's been a teen for awhile. All the children's daily wants seemed normal. I closed the game without saving and aim to go delete everything I downloaded yesterday, but if that doesn't work - good night! Edit to add: No change in that family. I played them through a day because that's not really going to make a change in how I play it, and proceeded to my favorite couple, who went through University together, married, got onto their LTW career tracks, and when I last left their story were both pregnant with the Have Baby want locked. He's still fine. She's not only changed from Become Media Mogul to Become Business Tycoon (same as his), not only is "Have a Baby" not in her wants, but SHE ONLY HAS FOUR WANTS!!!!!! WTF is going on here? Quit without saving and will go look at the next family in my rotation, though possibly not play it. Please, someone, tell me Boolprop can fix this?! Oh, right, I should go try that - my brain was paralyzed, I quit so fast. And I will now go check the FAQs and things for "disappearing wants," but I'm not hopeful. I've never in my life found a glitch I suffered in any FAQ. |

I hope it's not your hood breaking apart, because I had such problems when mine was close to crashing. There were other weirdnesses, but one of them was that, say, a family sim could throw a fear to have a baby. Somehow their wishes and LTWs stopped corresponding to their aspiration. As you don't use any hacks to change the default distribution of LTWs, your situation doesn't sound good Try to use HDCU just in case if you haven't, who knows maybe a few hacks that you've got conflict in some way and the conflicts can be removed. |

What's HDCU? Never mind, I'll go and look...ah, should be HCDU for Hack Conflict Detection Utility. I forgot to move the hacks I do have out of the folder because they'd been installed for a couple of weeks before I noticed anything wrong. It won't hurt to download the program and check, anyway. Apparently the borked wants is a recognized glitch, despite my inability to find information on it, because "wants and locks" appears under "fix" on the batbox. This got me six wants and two locks back; but as of today I have two sims this happened to, and both of them seem to have lost all their accumulated experience. Their memories, skills, and relationships are intact, but the wants they roll are the bland generic kind you get when first playing a sim fresh out of CAS: get a job, talk to an unspecified sim, gain a skill point. Both were in their last trimester of pregnancy when this happened, and neither is rolling appropriate wants for the situation. The Knowledge sim wants to skill and influence people to clean and cook, and the Family sim wants to get a job and a puppy. Neither has so much as rolled a want to interact with the baby yet, or a fear of changing diapers, or a desire to canoodle their husbands (which hitherto both always wanted to do regularly and which I'm used to seeing postpartum). Between their autonomous actions and my play style, these two both had strong, established characters, and one, though for the most part happily married, kept threatening to create drama with her brother-in-law, whom she used to date. She got through the entire session this last time without thinking about him. I hadn't realized how individual a sim's wants can get, till I saw how flat-out wrong these "fixed" wants are. I'm going to have to train them to be themselves, I guess. Out of the eight families I checked yesterday and today, three out of five pregnant women had their LTW changed and two had their wants borked; two additional non-pregnant women had their LTW changed and nothing odd in their daily wants (but they weren't University grads and I couldn't remember locking anything for them so they might have had a glitch that left no trace; I'm presuming it was the fix that wiped the training on the two I'm complaining about); and two men had their LTWs changed. The teens appear to be fine. The one pregnant woman who wasn't changed was only on her second day and all the others gave birth, so there might be a connection there; but the pregnant man was OK. Only one of the men had lost his "have a baby" want. The men whose LTW changed got new ones appropriate to their aspiration. Only the women got cross-aspirational LTWs. I really feel the women are being picked on here! And I'm no closer to knowing where to look to fend this off in future than I was day before yesterday, when the first pregnant sim in my rotation got through a perfectly normal birth. |

You said previously that you downloaded a few lots that didn't show up in your game after you installed them, it would be good to check these lots with Clean Installer to see if they shipped some hacks into your game. That could be possible. I heard that sometimes Clean Installer fails to recognize hacks, it's not 100% proof, so if the lots don't show up anyway, you could just check the contents of those lots and remove absolutely everything that they shipped into your game, to be a hundred percent sure that they're not causing the problem. As for the batbox, I think the option to fix wants and lots is not for fixing but for those who want to "upgrage" pre-uni sims or townies. Townies have memories of going into college but only four slots, which makes no sense, so maybe it was made for "fixing" them upon move-in. Anyway I hope that you'll find the cause of your glitches in those houses! If not, then maybe you should try loading up another hood and playing a little, to see if these glitches happen. If not then it should be your first hood problem, not the game or the hacks. If yes, then it's hacks or the game, you could maybe try to remove all hacks or try a full reinstall in case some game files got damaged. Even if it's a bad sign, restoring your sims is not difficult if you have only a few sims you want to keep. You can use cheats to give them skills they had and to age them exactly at their were at the crash point, etc. They will only lose memories, and if you had witches there's apparently no cheat to raise their magic skill, everything else can be restored. Anyway in my experience you can play a long time in a glitched hood before it actually crashes, so there's no hurry

I already moved those lots out of the downloads folder. Sigh. Now I'll have to get new utilities. I don't have anything that can extract package or rar files, and that's what these lots are in. Wouldn't they have taken their hacked items with them? I tried not to download anything that didn't say "Maxis objects only" but I can always screw up. You'd think if they didn't show up in the lots bin they wouldn't affect anything. But they are the only complex files added between the borked pregnancies and the successful one. I think the first aspiration glitch was noticed before they were added, however. Since I don't look at the LTWs very often that could have been going on for days before I caught it. HDCU says I have no conflicts, but I'm going to move the abduction hacks out anyway since I shouldn't need them anymore. |
