While i understand the site needs ads to keep it running free, some of them are absolutely pathetic. Particularly the naked backside saying 'want to see more' and the 'date hot russian girls' ads. I've attached screenshots (i think! If it works). Really pathetic. |

Pathetic, yes. Wearing stillettos while you're in your underwear is just full of fail. It's not like you're going anywhere anyway, right? And what's the point of these pinup posters in the background of that failed boob surgery? That being said, I kinda expected some sort of roadkill recycling ad when I read the thread title. Is this about the poor little children and how they will be scarred for life by watching at ads like that? |

That's quite an angry first ever post  Welcome.I don't really know how advertising space works but I would guess that the site doesn't actually have anything to do with how their advertising space gets used but is it really so hard for advertising companies to put some thought into who's actually gonna be seeing these adverts....or is it just assumed that 99% of people that use any site anywhere on the internet are sad lonely old men and horny teen boys? I mean , I know plenty of hetro guys (or lesbians) and adults play sims but probably a good chunk of this sites users/simmers in general are female and/or under 18 ie. people who aren't really interested in or shouldn't really be looking at naked women or phoning sex lines etc. Think it through people!  On a side note, I've never actually noticed those adverts, I always ignore internet ads. Does anybody ever actually buy a product/service though them?! I just assume that everything and anything that pops up that I haven't actually clicked on or is visible on the site but has nothing to do with the site (this site or others) is trying to con me or hack my computer Maybe I'm just paranoid.

I've seen the Russian girls one, which is pretty stupid, but doesn't really show any nudity or anything. The one with the bare ass, however... well, you couldn't post custom content that looked like that here, so that ass-ad is not okay. We have an ad contract with a company that serves ads. We don't control or choose the ads ourselves, though we can object to specific ads and ask that they be removed from the rotation on MTS. The ads can be based on sites you've visited previously - my ads seem obsessed with a Dutch shoe company, and it even serves me ads for specific shoes I've looked at previously on their site. If all you're getting is T&A, makes me wonder what kind of sites you've been visiting previously.  In any case, thank you for the heads-up and we will look into it. |

vaccasancta You're not the only one disgusted by those ads. Yeah, they're not right for a kid friendly site, but what annoys me as an adult is the "women as commodities" vibe of them. Unfortunately, Delphy can't control what ads show up, he can only complain to the ad server people. I really don't understand why ad servers don't give their customers the option of a PG-13 feed. You can block those specific ads with AdBlock. I use AdBlock and NoScript to nuke all ads on principle. At MTS, I send $5/mo because MTS is worth supporting, and thus I never see ads here. (Yes, yes, MTS gets some of its maintenance money from ads and minors don't have credit cards.) |

There is the option of PG-13 ads - we use it. PG-13, in this case, pretty much seems to mean no nipples or pubes - usually. When they let something through, we complain. |

Now that's disgusting. They know kids as young as 13 will see them and they still use those adverts!? There should be some kind of law against trying to force porn onto minors. EDIT: I'm not saying 13yr olds shouldn't ever see naked people, but there's a big difference between catching a bit of naked bum or side boob in a scene in a film and seeing someone's ass up in the air with sexy underwear on actually selling sex.....though I suppose that could describe most music videos these days

I get the shoes, clothing and fantasy games too. Always assumed this was because my browser-history is full of shoes, clothes and D&D3.5. Never seen the russian brides or T&A either. |
