I have installed all expansion and stuff packs, played Sims 2 like forever and now I get this!
Every time in the last 1-2 days I think, when I try to load my custom neighborhood, the game crashes. You know the error "This application crashed, it will now terminate". Pressed OK, bye bye Sims 2.
I have deleted all the CC installed, didn't work, still crashed. I have reinstalled Mansion&Garden, and deleted every CC I had, and then finally it worked. I managed to do another custom neighborhood and it went fine. When I tried to put CC in the game, it crashes again. [And I must say, I didn't put hacks or whatever, just some clothes, eyes and a few lots]. Tried to delete the CC again, didn't work.
I am not in the mood to reinstall this forever and not to be able to use CC again. What could be the problem?
I tried to organize the CC and added just some of them, not all, but still doesn't work.
Any ideas would be welcome I'm going crazy here

[Sorry for bad English]

Well you could try clearing your caches. You know, when you install CC, it get's cached so that the game can load it quicker. If you remove the CC, it's still cached.

So delete all your .cache files (no worries, these regenerate themselves properly when you restart the game) and see if that helps.

Since the game crashes when you put back your CC, it means that there's a CC file that's corrupt or that doesn't work with the custom neighbourhood. You should check your CC to see if there are any corrupt files in it.

It sounds like the problem is with the custom content itself, as your game works fine without it. You can find which pieces are actually giving the problem using this method:

Make sure any CC you install is compatible with your games.

Ok, I have deleted the caches, I have deleted any careers/majors, hacks, global mods and so on, and now Pleasentview has the same problem; it won't load more than 2 yellow squares (you know, at the top of the screen). I think it has to do with all neighborhoods, not just the custom one.
I am sure my CC is compatible, I don't have Sims 3 CC or things like this. And it still doesn't work.
Any other ideas?

Remove to desktop or rename the Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 folder and allow your game to generate fresh user files. Do not add any cc. If these fresh files load, then odds are the problem is with cc you put in your old game and you will need to be more cautious re-adding cc.

Did you install the lots with the Clean Installer and check to be sure no unwanted hacks were hitching along?

Mangaroo, it is most definitely the custom content.

Ooook ... I have done everything you told me to until now. It still didn't work I have reinstalled the game with all the EPs and SPs, and put some custom content in the game. And finally, it worked. Well, I didn't put just some eyes xD But it worked But (here comes the 'but'), I don't know why this is like this, but my Sims are really screwed up, and the cars going around in the empty *custom* neighborhood are the same.

I searched around to find a solution, and ... well, nothing.
I am absolutely sure I have installed everything correctly.
Help, please

Please provide your system specs, as described in the "Quick Summary" section of this guide: Game Help:System Specswiki.

Also try turning down smooth edges in the ingame graphics options.

Well, I have Windows Xp SP2
AMD processor [model unknown it says]
2.21 GHz
1 GB RAM

The thing is that I was running the game with the same operating system until now, and with the same pc, so it shouldn't be this the problem.
And the smooth edge thing doesn't work.

Those specs are incomplete. Please go back and re-read the guide I linked.

The thing is that I was running the game with the same operating system until now, and with the same pc, so it shouldn't be this the problem.

If the GPU or CPU is underpowered, or the RAM is insufficient, the wear-and-tear on the hardware over extended use can cause performance deterioration. Sometimes errors -- particularly graphics errors -- are a computer's cry for help.
