Can someone help me please. I would like to import a commuter plane from x-plane or flight sim for use as just an object for my airport. I saw someone added a plane, my question is: How? I have blender and gimp.
Thanks
Melissa

1) Find a utility that will get the 3D data (meshes) from the game you're wanting out into a readable format. OBJ, SMD, etc. are good ones. If you want to share the result you'll need to get permission from the game's creators.

2) Remap it if necessary to remove any mirroring, wonky bits, etc., as you'll want it to be CAStable.

3) Get it into TS3. There are TS3 object creation tutorials - following a basic one without trying to convert first is a good idea, so you understand the ropes. Milkshape is also real helpful as there are good plugins for it - there are some for Blender too but you tend to find better support for Milkshape.

Okay I've got an airplane made. I saved it as an .obj file. Now what? I need to get it into the game. Help!

Find and download Wes Howe's objtool. It has instructions on how to replace an existing objects mesh,
which is what you need to do to get your mesh in the game. Use S3OC to clone a simple object, one
you could place at the airport like you want to do with your plane. Clone it and replace it's mesh with
the one you made, following the instructions from objtool. It'll show up in the catalog right next to
the object you cloned, if you didn't change anything but the mesh. For even more fun, you could
scale your airplane mesh down to toy size and clone one of the kids toys and replace its mesh.

You're welcome. Did you get a chance to put it together yet?
