Old 21st Feb 2011, 01:28 AM DefaultKids Crowd in front of Schools? #1

This happens way too often. For some reason, every school day the kids all crowd in front of the school, causing massive amounts of route-interruptions. This causes them to miss school and their grades fall. I delete the lot and replace it with the same school, but it would happen again a few Sim days later. Has anyone else had this problem? What have you done to fix it?

It's a common problem, caused by too many sims trying to get through a small door.

What I did to solve it in my worlds was to place more than one school- it will not solve the problem immediately, but future children will be assigned to the nearest school to their house. If you use Twallan's Careers mod however then you can assign which school the child attends, so solving the problem more quickly.

You can place more than one of each rabbithole- I also try to put two spas if I can, as this will stop the place getting clogged up with teens who have jobs there.

I will choose a path that's clear- I will choose free will

You could also try rigging the doors with bombs. But if it's too complicated, have your kid's parents get a fast car and take your kid to school early.

Not so sure about placing more than one school tho, not only it will look weird in neighborhood view (after all it's not a city) but I remember that when I placed another Outstanding Citizen's Warehouse my sim would freeze in his car in front of the house when I told them to go to work.

I'm using the Routing Improvement Mod. No more jams in front of the school or somewhere else.

There are more than one version of most of the rabbitholes- for example, there is the school that came with the basegame, the school from Twinbrook, the school from Riverview. They have different names and so can be safely used together, and look different.

For adult careers, if you have more than one career location then you should be able to change the work location by clicking on the rabbithole.

Thanks so much for all of the tips everyone. I'm going to try Wojtek's suggestion about the routing improvement mod first because it seems the simplest. If that doesn't work, then I'll probably use twallan's Career mod.

Ok so the mods weren't enough to prevent the kids from running into each other. So I made another school in the neighborhood. However, I don't know how to redirect some of the kids to go to the school. What I want to do is separate the kids and the teens. I want to make the teens go to the school I made. How do I do this?

Haha dang I got excited when I saw that you replied xD I find it very odd that the game was designed to include both Elementary and High School into one building. Surely EA would have seen a problem with this when they were testing out the game...
