Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place. This forum is a tad bit confusing. I was trying to make a more complicated building and I wasn't quite able to figure out how to do one thing, and now I'm thinking that it might not be possible. I want to make a two-part building where one part is on a lower terrain and the other is on a higher terrain. The part on the lower terrain has more levels than the part on the higher terrain, but they both reach the same height. I was wondering if it is possible to build a bridge connecting them. If my description was not clear, I drew a picture. ![]() Thanks, Dylan |

Yes, it should be possible

I can't quite figure out how. If it is possible, does anybody know the best way to go about doing this? I'm thinking it might not be, because when you select the level you want to view, say you're on the third floor, which floor does it consider the bridge? the third floor or the fourth floor? Maybe it would work better if the taller tower was three floors and the shorter tower was two and a foundation, rather than the taller tower being four and the shorter tower being two and a foundation. |

I'm going to disagree with Lance and say no to being able to connect different levels of a building together. But I think you might be able to bury a foundation level in the hill and maybe use CFE to make a dummy level on top of that so the building on the hill has four levels to match the other. That's a total guess on my part though since I've never actually done it but it should be easy enough to test out in game to see if it works. Good luck. P.S. CFE = Constrain Floor Elevation If you're not familiar with it a quick search should bring up a ton of tutorials. |

You need to have the same number of levels in both sections. However, the first two levels on the higher ground can be very small (1 or 2 clicks) to compensate for the difference in the ground levels. Alternatively, you can use some of the objects from this thread to traverse two levels which are at the same elevation: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=402863 |

![]() The foundation counts as a floor, so this is how they would line up (in orange). With the CFE cheat, they can be aligned to not be slanted. |

I don't mind if you call me "MSD" or something for short. Perhaps someday I'll have leisure time back...

Change your foundation so that it is two smaller levels, rather than one. Then, everything will line up correctly. I believe that CFE will only make levels which are 4 clicks or more. There's a very complicated technique that you can use to make < 4 click levels, or you can use the GridAdjuster to make very small levels (0, 1, 2, or 3 clicks): http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=327439 |

If you try MSD's solution you must have the right tower 3 levels and the left 3 [2 livable because of the foundation] With the solution of a dummy level at the left tower, you have 4 levels on the right tower and 4 on the left [2 livable floors because of the foundation and the dummy level] EDIT:I didn't noticed,I'm just saying the same thing with Honeywell above! sorry |

Since I suck at getting stuff to go the way I want them to with CFE even when I have directions staring me in the face, this is my method . . . . First, pile up the land under the postitions for both towers to the height of your hill for the short tower. Make foundations at this ground level for both towers - you could run a one-tile string between them to make sure they are even for when you connect them with the bridge. If you didn't plan on making more than one floor in the taller tower, you could've gotten away with just running foundation blocks from the hilltop over to the high tower's postion. On an inside wall of the high tower, slap up some wall paper with a baseboard you can easily see. Even out the ground as if making a basement and put down a floor layer with an opening for a mod stair way like if you were making a house with a basement going two storeys below ground. From the looks of your picture, you will probably have to line up two floors below ground with the top of the foundation being the floor for the third storey. I would leave the foundation stringer between the two towers to use as a base to run walls or column layers on for making the bridge running between the two towers. After the bridge is in place, delete the foundation string between the two towers and level down your hillside to make the yard look like your pic. With my method, you won't be able to put a ground level door on the high tower, but you will have access through the bridge. |
