So, I was feeling nostalgic for University and decided to make a college-esque lot for Bridgeport. I decided to build it on the field next to the school, since that's the only empty space I could find that was big enough. I couldn't figure out how to get rid of the lines, though, so the majority of my design was working around that. I would've liked to have made the "quad" area bigger, and put the gnubb/picnic area there, but I needed more room for the buildings.
Overall, I was pretty pleased about how it turned out considering my basic building skills, so I thought about sharing it, but I'm not sure if it's quite up to par with some of the other things available for download.
Basically, I'm wondering if this is a lot someone would be interested in having in their 'hood, and what changes you would make, etc. I at least hope to get some tips for future reference, even if everyone thinks this lot is a disaster
Everything indoors and the landscaping look great!
However, I think your roofs need some changes. First they are quite high. That is of course a matter of taste, but in my opinion they could be lower. Secondly, thos roof parts that are towards the inner yard, in all the buildings, need a change imo. Either add a roof piece that joins them to the other roofs, or delete those pieces and change them to something that joins nicely the other roofs. Right now those pieces look like they are just slammed there (mind the choice of words) and don't flow nicely with the rest of roofs that work well together.
You could also add some deco indoors, like more paintings, flowers etc. Of course you might have more of those, but it can't be seen in your pics cause you haven't shown floorplans
All in all good work, it'll be great if you "fix" the roof
Yeah, I have trouble with roofs. I'll fiddle with them when I get home from work tonight. I didn't put too many decorations because the lot was so object-heavy already that it was taking a while to load. But I think that was because of all the packages I have installed because it loaded much faster when I removed my mods, so I will try to work on it with a mod-free game.
I can't believe I forgot to post screenies of the floor plan! Here they are:
I agree with armiel about the roofs, they could be a tad lower and connected.
I also think the decoration board/shield/thingy (..eh?) in front of the 'College' could be placed in front of the hedge or somewhere, because where you place it now, diogonal, looks a bit odd
If you remember me, I'm awesome!Simblr! I have to get used to tumblr haha.
The general design of it is superb. As Armiel pointed out, those little bits of roof do need joined and the roof could use lowering.
Zandvoort also proves a point that the diagonal sign looks a bit odd, however I reckon it would be fine at a slight angle. Same location, just about a 20 degree angle (you can rotate freely by pressing left Alt and turning the object as if you were doing pre-set rotations)
Thanks Zanvoort and Omini for your suggestions! I'll definitely try something else with the sign. Unfortunately, I've been sick today and am not up to Simming, but when I'm feeling better I'll update with the changes.
Thanks for the help! I didn't realize how bad the roofs looked until I fixed them, so I appreciate the feedback. Is there anything else I can improve? I will probably add more decorations to the interiors, but I don't want to bog down the loading time too much since it's a big lot with a lot of objects on it already.
