lets have some fun with a little scenario

EA decides to treat us TS2 fans (forever dreaming) with a last mini expansion/patch/pack. But they are low on staff and time, so they can only include 5 features! (WTF!)

But anyways, this can be any kind of feature you wish, like fixes, new stuff, etc. Try not to be to vague and say something like "more pets" or "fix all the bugs". So pick something major that you really wanted to be fixed or added to finish the game!

What 5 features you would like in the final pack/patch?

Heres mine:
1. New dance animations
2. Better bars! Different drinks and some after effects. Even TS1 or TS3 was better!
3. Fix OFB bug that was never fixed where employees that wear uniform, their face changes to a default alpha face with no eyebrows >_>
4. Food kiosks like in TS1 (hot dog stand, smoothie stand, sushi kiosk, cotton candy, etc)
5. Replace graphics of the neighborhood when on a lot, so its not blurry and yucky!

I would be forever pleased with the game if those features were implemented :D

What a fun thread.

Um...

More overlays for face and body? Better skies? Advanced build mode to enable skyscrapers, real basements, real split levels, inner-courtyards that aren't considered indoors, or roof-top pools?

Argh...I need to spend more time thinking about about this one.

(Somewhat off-topic: Do you get that OFB glitch when you have a "template uniform" set and then try to apply that template to new employees? Because I do not recall seeing that whenever I would manually assign each clothing/hair for each employee as if it was a different uniform...but it's been a long time since I've managed an OFB store.)

ETA: What about the new creature?

I don't mind if you call me "MSD" or something for short.
Perhaps someday I'll have leisure time back...

Hahahaha....like EA would give us what we want. Oh, lazzy, you are a card....

The features I would like:

Real Basements.

Better behaved pets who aren't supernaturally endowed with evil furniture disintegration beams.

A paper carrier that doesn't drive me batshit crazy.

The fun stuff from Sims 1 Makin' Magic and Superstar.

Bella Goth returned from wherever she is. The real one, not that ersatz floozy in Strangetown.

That about covers it. Now, this is how the scenario continues to unfold-

EA: Hmmm, I see Kneon Knucklehead and his buddies want some new useful content for Sims 2. Lets just release something that breaks everything, causes bizarre unwanted behavior, and makes the sims really, really ugly. With big, doughy heads and no defined body features.
Yeah, that's the ticket.

From Simonut: Here is my take on if Sims 2 is losing popularity or not, If you offer or give a monkey a banana will he take it even if the banana is green or yellow ? Whatever new games EA put out there like the Sims3 some human somewhere will buy it.

You got me excited for a second I thought it was really happening, I'm delusional.

Anyway I liked some of the things you guys put so far, here's what my five would be:
1. Food carts like in TS1 (because they were awesome)
2. Carnivals/Amusement parks - or at the very least the carnival type games (I believe those came with Vacation in TS1)
3. Picnic baskets
4. Woohoo in more places (rug, couch, picnic blanket, shower, etc.)
5. And variety about the tombstones (like they were in TS1) and a plus would be if I could choose the look of the tombstone per sim. But of course keep the gold trim and marble for the perma platinum and concrete for the rest. But different styles would be awesome.

Oohh. I like most of the ideas so far.

1. The beach volleyball game and the half pipe from TS1 vacation
2. Remove the ability to delete Sims. (Seriously why are we able to do this?)
3. Add some of the old dating interactions from Hot Date. I would rather play foostie than throw food.
4. More dance animations and the ability to keep a Sim a prepetual bad dancer. (not everyone can dance afterall)
5. Fix the stupid nanny's so they actually take care of your children.

1. More interactions in general, especially romantic interactions and more like the situational "console" that sometimes pops up when sim kids get sad.
2. Acknowledged holidays complete with activities (carving pumpkins and dressing up to go trick or treating, decorating trees/opening presents, hunting for eggs, fireworks, etc.) I've always wanted this!
3. Weight/height sliders if possible and an in-game way to adjust existing sims, like a potion or aspiration award.
4. Open neighborhood like in the Sims 3 would be cool if it could somehow get implemented.
5. More varieties of pets with more to do with them.

If I could only have one, I'd take either 2 or 3. I'd love to have my sims celebrate holidays with official items/animations but I'd also like to be able to modify their bodies without using custom meshes. Sort of taking an element from 3 and adding it to 2 I guess.

edit: lol, never mind about 2. I just realized that Holiday Stuff exists but I don't have it. Is it worth getting?

I think I have tried both ways. I remember I spent an hour testing it one day and even going on the help section and i was told it was a known bug that EA overlooked. Ive seen it work sometimes, but very randomly & temporarily :/

I actually dont remember what TS1 tombstones looked like, since I rarely killed people when I use to play xD Were the sims randomly given a tombstone? How many different ones were there? :O

Sadly, with the examples you listed for holiday activities, only one that Holiday stuff has is fireworks lol I have the pack but I never tried the fireworks yet. Its good if you want christmas decorations and clothes, but it doesnt really have any holiday activities :/

Indeed, this is a great idea for a thread

1) Better lot impostors (those blurred blobs in the background of my pretty lot are making me sad) << number one with a BULLET.
2) Farm stuffs - cows and pigs and chickens and horses.
3) The ability to place roads in hoodview rather than making maps in SC4
4) Different coloured roofs on the same lot (not like the AL/M&G roofs, but proper roofs)
5) More body shapes - heights etc.

Ok maybe it will, or will never happen, but I guess it is ok to wish or dream as follow:

1. Adventurer Career - Would like to see my sims climb high mountains in the snow ( fall on his or her butt ), travel and live in the wild with bears, tigers, and snakes near by but be smart enough to survive or died.
2. Get married in the traditional way like in a place of worship.
3. Sports like football field, hockey, soccer, a real sims golf course.
4. Security guard for stores with clothes, etc for sims who like to steal.
5. Divorce lawyer to go see and a real judge in a court house.
6. Hospital to have babies. ( I just had to add this one. )

These are some of the things I wish Sims 2 had, but just the same I am happy with what my sims 2 do have.

This is fun!

1. Remove the blurriness of the surounding neighbourhood, both when on a lot and also while in neighbourhood view.
2. Food carts that sell hotdogs, ice-cream, cotton candy, popcorn, chestnuts, etc. Sims should be able to work at and use them like the coffee station.
3. The ability to place roads and bridges in neighbourhood view.
4. Fat bodyshape that is better suited to the "fat" description.
5. Be able to use inventory items on community lots, like the guitar, or an easel.

1. The ability to visit other residential lots.
2. A banking system (individual accounts, loans, etc) with the possibility of OFB ownership of the bank.
3. Giftable, wearable jewelry.
4. The ability to sew separates and outerwear on the FT sewing machine.
5. A "walls down" camera option where only the wall between the player and the Sim disappeared, not the wall between the Sim and the bathroom.

Most random mini EP ever!

1. Ability to organize clothes in collections that work outside CAS.
2. Curved shapes in roads, walls, lots...
3. Swimmable lakes, streams etc.
4. Separates in all clothing categories.
5. Separate shoes.

Well, I doubt I'd buy it unless it contained 5 awesome features AND a couple dozen bug fixes. But here are some things I personally like to think about.

1. Ability to choose whether the wardrobes will be cc only or cc mixed with the pre-made crap. Since I don't like 99% of the pre-made clothing, I'd happily give up the 1% I do like to have a game where I never had to look at the awful pre-made clothing. Same with the hair.

2. I would love to have better looking scenery in neighborhood view and lot view - not that blurry crap.

3. Ocean and lake fishing so my sims can fish for bigger fish from the beach lots.

4. A larger variety of fruits and veggies my sims can grow AND sell so I can be more selective about what they can grow that is appropriate for their zone. And most importantly, to let my sims reach into the refrigerator to grab and eat a piece of harvested fruit as a snack.

5. Modify the aspirations so that romance sims are actually romantic. (Add a tramp/sleeze aspiration.) Family sims are actually eager to autonomously spend time with and correctly care for their children, not just want a bunch of spawn.

I can think of a whole bunch of other features for gameplay and I'd have to have an entirely different list for the features I'd want to improve the type of houses and community lots that can be built. But some of the stuff I'd like has already been mentioned by others.

Considering how flexible TS2 should/could be, 5 additional/new/modified features is not very many. I think TS2 sales have been high enough to warrant a bit more of a generous offering if they want more people to believe they intend to be a company that values their customer base AND giving QUALITY products for the long haul. Especially considering TS2 sales broke industry records for game sales during the first year. Otherwise, I certainly wouldn't buy it because I've already made up my mind that EA is not able to move forward in ways that convinces me that I should continue to give them money for. I'll just move on to other games or hobbies when I am done wringing my money's worth out of TS2.

ooo, some nice ideas here.

I would totally go for the effects of drinking too much and the security guards and light-fingered sims. And I too liked the foodstands in the original games - and the carnival objects from Makin' Magic. And sports fields sound fun too. For me: I'd like a creative aspiration, maybe farming (as someone already mentioned) and illnesses and medical care which brings me on to this:

This is already available with a hack. The hack enables (and expands on) coding that is already in the game. It was originally intended that sims would have their babies in hospital (as an option) but EA never finished this part of the game and never enabled the coding. The hack that does this allows your sims to go off and have their babies at hospital. They are also able to go and get treated for illnesses though I'm not as clear how that works - whether it's just that your sim spends the time at hospital resting (and therefore getting better) or whether being on the hospital lot actually treats the illness. Anyway, it's a fun hack and there are quite a few fan-made hospitals out there now.

1) Expansion theme: Carnival! Bring back the amusement park from Makin' Magic, but with more and better games and lots and lots of kids running around. It always bugged me that I could send a kid to the amusement park but he'd never met another kid there. Teens could win tacky souvenirs for their dates and make out at the top of the Ferris wheel.
2) More body types, including height (which changes when you put on a high-heeled shoe mesh). This is rendered thematic via a sideshow feature that includes a "freak show." Difficult to pull off in an inoffensive manner, yes. But we're talking pie in the sky so - bring it. I want the possibility of bearded ladies, hermaphrodites, little people, and giants!
4) More kid independence, particularly toddler interactions and greater frequency of meeting them on appropriate community lots.
5) Food stands - popcorn, cotton candy, shrimp, ice cream - with effects besides reducing hunger. Ice cream would decrease temperature, the spicy shrimp increase it, eating too much junk food makes people lose fitness faster and get indigestion, eating healthy foods increases fitness and resistance to disease, and so on. There's a little bit of this in the game already, but more is better.

The theme would also, as a matter of course, add a couple of potential careers - probably just reviving the Animal and Circus career tracks from Sims 1 - and lots of new carnival-themed clothes and objects.

And the lack of givable jewelry bugs me, too, but I haven't been able to fit it to the theme. I tried to have one of my sims who has jewelry for a turn-on buy some for his girlfriend once, and the game pretended to let me, but he can't turn the jewelry up in his inventory and now he has an earring that comes and goes. I can't find it when he goes to the mirror, and it isn't always there, but once in awhile it just pops up - and he is *not* an earring kind of guy.

All you can do is the best you can do.

1) More things for the kids to do. For example; they should be able to meet another kid on a community lot, make themself some food like sandwich or cornflakes, have more toys to play with. I would also find it cute if they could fall in love with another kid. No I donīt want them to be able to make out or so, but a little kiss would be cute.

2) Better Socialworker-system. I think she could come sometimes. But as it is know she comes far to easy. Examples on when I donīt want her to come; a child is left alone (honestly what where they thinking when they didnīt allowed that!?), a child has got bad grades or if a child is hungry (go get some snacks then!). The way babies and toddlers are treated is okay however. But I want the family to be able to get their children back, I donīt want childrens memories to get lost if they are adopted by another family and I want them to still have a family relationship to their biological parents.

3) The ability to visit friends in their homes.

4) More aspirations and the current aspirations should be a bit better. Now romance sims or not romantic only bestial. Why canīt romance sims be pleased with one romance?

5) The ability to change how long each age group lasts (but I do like it when the lenght for elders is a result of the aspiration level).

@ magaroo (visiting other lots and banking) and Simonut(hospitals)

Both BAS and Insimenator have hacks that allow that. BAS has a mini hospital expansion and a hack that allows you to visit other residential lots. Insimenator has a baby delivering chair or something that's relatively new and still being worked on. The bank system was also there (i'm really hoping it was or else i was seeing things lol)

what I would want and would have to be most crucial in my ever growing list

1. body sliders like ts3 just add some more body stages geez lol
2. more default skin range then just 4 shades without it being cc or a mod and hair color too. Just make a slider or be able to at least enter a html color code to get the desired shade.
3. better hood view (less blur) but i think maybe that's a graphic card issue possibly? I've seen some people post pics on here where the lot and the neighborhood view were flawless so they must have a really good gaming pc graphic card.
4. triplets-quads without a hack
5. some one else mentioned this but i wanna expand on it. A way to safely delete sims files that wont corrupt your game to manage population. Actually screw that just manage overall population better then what we can do now. I shouldn't have to have 20 graveyards of tombstones that cant be deleted because the unlinking screws up the system. or not being able to delete from the family bin. I don't play with pets why should i have to keep that pet family (the two dogs with no owners) just because you coded the game wrong.

And everything everyone else has said so far sounds fun too.

To give everyone an idea of how my mind works, when I read this my immediate reaction was "Aha! I could embezzle the funds!"

A financier career would be challenging in it's own way-keeping track of loans and payments, ensuring security was adequate at the bank.

And, of course, harrassing other sims on the phone and sending out the repo man.

Now that a great "Idea" Kneon, it would work just wonderful with my own idea of having a "security guard" in the game in different sims stores outlets to catch sims who love to steal. The bank would be my first stop I would have the sim bank owner to pick up the phone to hire a security guard NPC.

Who would come in and stand around and watch over things, but as soon as the place get robbed and he or she ( security ) step in to take down the sim. What do you think will happen ? The robber will win the fight and run off with the money.

That would be so funny to add to the sims 2 game and just watch the actions I guess this would mean more action for those who like to play the Criminal Career.

Oh, how to choose just 5?!

Most, if not all, of these have already been mentioned, but here goes! :-)

1. More farm stuff! Pigs, cows, sheep, chickens, ducks, goats & llamas :-D It should be possible to breed them, sell them for meat, shear them, collect their eggs etc (obviously not all of those things for each animal!). Rideable horses, ponies and donkeys would also be good :-)

2. More varieties of fruit & vegetables to grow, including more fruit trees and grape vines. Also more things to do with these fruits/vegetables - sims should be able to get individual pieces of fruit/veg out of the fridge as snacks, and make wine with the grapes they grew.

3. Fairground stuff! Food stands selling ice cream, candyfloss, sweets, hotdogs, burgers, pretzels, doughnuts, juice, milkshakes and so on. Rides; like dodgems, small rollercoasters, carousels etc. Stalls for fairground games, like hook a duck and all the others ones that you get at fairs (in the UK, anyway). It should be made so that it was possible to run a fair as an OFB business by charging per ride/game/food item, rather than just using a ticket machine.

4. More vacation/holiday destination types! Mountain, beach and Far East just isn't enough for me. I'd love for my sims to be able to go on city breaks, to quaint old English beach resorts, to party/clubbing resorts like Ibiza, on safari or to "Australia". All of these new types of destinations would need their own secret lots, special activities, gestures, dances and massages.

5. More specifically giftable items, including jewellery and flowers. The option to choose what colour wrapping to have on gifts that one sim hands to another, as well as the option to actually put openable gifts under a tree/on a table for things like Christmas, birthdays, weddings and baby showers, and to send gifts to other households. Also, the option to send greetings cards to sims in other households and give them to sims in your own household.

Yeah, my idea of a mini-EP is more like biggest-ever-EP! :-D But I'd love to see it made! :-)

Simonut, you just got me to thinking...an excellent part of the expansion could be a "Careers" option that would allow your sim to actually DO some of the things his or her career entailed. Doctors and nurses could treat illnesses and injury, Superheroes could fight Supervillains and rescue the occasional kitten from a tree, Adventurers could explore mysterious ruins and recover valuable artifacts...all done in short cut scenes that offer you choices like the random chance cards you get now.

And Bella Goth, the minx, could give an accounting of her whereabouts and doings for the past few years.

PCSims (sims 2 graveyard) in the business files has a banking expansion not totally sure what it entails since the actual site is no longer around and you don't tend to get read-me files with files in the graveyard. It might have been what I was referring to earlier but I don't remember exactly. There's a community lot uploaded on here that uses it http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=221148&c=1

I may give it a try once I'm done trying to recolor some hairs. Looks like it's a ownable business as well. Which would be perfect for what I have in mind for Malcolm Langraab.

It's good enough the way it is... Kind of.

1. Employees in OFB don't try to get customers to buy things every second, it drives them away.
2. Pets that don't rip up furniture all the time.
3. More cars.
4. Better interactions. Seriously!
5. Ability to give Sims a more complex personality. Kind of like The Sims 3, but not so big.

This is a signature, worship it and it will love you forever.

Wow. Some great ideas.
1. More flexibility in cas. I would like to have a *fat* sim, not a potbelly or lard butt sim.
2. Better neighbourhood graphics when on a lot.
3. More pets. Such as horse, pigs, rabbit, chickens, rat
4. Be able to visit friends and families
5. And i would love to have my sim get tipsy, drunk, hungover.
