Okay, so for the last couple of weeks I had an issue where, upon double-clicking The Sims 2 icon on my desktop, the game crashed before even loading. I read the FAQs on how to fix this, and I was eventually able to figure it out. However, it was not a solution I had expected, or even understand.

What I read on the FAQs was to re-name my Sims 2 folder(s - I have two, The Sims 2 and The Sims 2 Store Edition) by adding "backup" at the end.

I did this with both my folders, and it worked. THEN I put The Sims 2 folder back to its original name, but decided to leave the "Backup" in the The Sims 2 Store Edition folder, just to see if that was what was causing me problems.

The game STILL worked. The problem was with my The Sims 2 Store Edition folder, but I don't understand why. There is only one file in that folder, and XML document with the name "uContent".

Does anyone know why this file may have caused my game to crash? What this file does? If not having it will affect my game?

Thanks!
