Honestly, I am playing with soooo little room in Bridgeport. I have been adding tiny lots here and there for Laundromat and sims bunkers (underground lots to hide sims away for unimportant households). Squeezing Cityhall + Military + Police into Cityhall and Bussiness + Restaurant into 1 building is already telling something. But EA didn't give us a whole lot of rooms to work with. However, there are excessive amount of clubs and bars. I am asking in your opinions what lots you consider completely bulldozed and never want to see again? Or what to modify on the existing EA premade lots that makes the game playable? 73 Embarcadero Drive was immediately bulldozed, it looked good, but closely the building is casually made, worthless. I have yet to close down any club, what do you guys think are worthless clubs that need to be closed down? Any EA families deserve evicted and deleted altogether?

Well, if I ever decided to play Bridgeport again (which will probably not happen) and then decided that I might eventually enjoy building (which will not happen so soon either), I would rather shift things around than delete them. - Look at Banzai! Lounge and Waylon's Haunt. They both sit on huge lots where half of the lot is either covered by another empty building or a parking garage. Enough space for two separate smaller lots, I guess. The same goes for Eugis, I think. - Banzai! in addition is a nightmare when it comes to routing. This calls for a remodel. - Next thing would be to expand the highrise apartments so that they can house a larger family. - The school could also perhaps be placed on a smaller lot and here on MTS is a smaller movie lot ready for download. - One of the parks could probably house the Bistro, thus solving some opportunities problems. - Buena Vista resort could be converted into a Club with Pool, and Aquarius be converted into a residential apartment. - It's a pity that you cannot turn the graveyard bar into a Vampire Lounge, because it would free up another piece of valuable real estate in town. (Well of course you can but then you'd have no graveyard lot anymore) -Another thing to try is rabbithole rugs or doors. I don't know, however, whether the combined buildings have been converted yet. Seeing that there are only a handful of children in BP, they could as well go into one of those smaller houses on the outskirts, after converting it to a school. |

Great topic. I was thinking the same thing. I've already expanded most of the apartments in order to house larger families. I'm thinking of bulldozing all the hideous houses in the "surburb" island across the bridge and making a smaller downtown here there, too. Have you built across from the graveyard? I was able to fit five lots across from there. As for replacing existing buildings, I turned Buena Vista into a "country club" with a bouncer and one of my Sims owns it. I also turned the Maloney Tower, which has the basement apartment, into an underground club. |

Thanks for inputs. ![]() babele44, what is with the hate for Bridgeport? Except, well, it is very laggy and extremely stingy on free spaces. I even did a modification on Bridgeport map detailed by HP to curl some routing problems that traps tons of NPCs in the mountains. But anyway, you would go through such extensive length to redo Bridgeport. I would too, except I may find it hard to rework the whole downtown placement area because of existing terrain art (that is something we can't change, all the freeways, downtown streets, etc...). I would love to know what you plan to do with the supposed football field behind the school? I first thought it was such a convenient empty space for a 60x60 lot until I notice those weird rectangles on the ground are meant to look like a football field and the school's lot has benches. I am also wondering about those combined rabbit holes as well. I was so happy to get rid of that Bistro in the corner for a nice 20x20 lot (or was it 30x30, cant remember). But soon enough I realized there is no "Business" career offered. It would be absolutely nice if we can shrink the school into a smaller lot and combine it with something (that perhaps remotely make sense). What is rabbit hole rugs and doors? is it what I am thinking? Rabbit hole items that can represent a big rabbit hole block? I do notice there are rather excessive parks in Bridgeport as well. secretsim, I didn't look into graveyard closely since I have no business there yet (and it is rather depressing to be there). But since you bring up, I am going to look there to see if there is any room for a lot. Country club is a nice idea. It already has an existing country club feel, just need to add more stuff into it and innovate it a little. Maloney Tower is the place where a female sim who loves book lives there right? It is a nice roleplay value to have such a poor sim living downtown who can only afford renting such a crappy place but manages to keep herself happy through books. When the novelty is gone, it feels like an absolute waste to have her occupies such a valuable land asset. Your idea of bulldozing all the lots over the suburb "Beverly Hills" area rings an alarm. There are at least 2 lots there that sits mostly on a steep slope (one of them is occupied by Big Bling household). How do you rebuild those lots without destroying the natural landscape? I tried, it didn't work, so I decided Big Blings can keep their house as is. I kept "Sugar Cube" (an EA made empty lot) with moderate redesign to add an extra room that has the aquarium view of the pool, as well as a servant room in the back (this is where my legendary butler Camilla Fortescue goes). However, that lot is a money spot! It is a nice flat 40x40 that has a great view of the whole neighborhood. |

Tomomi, you're right... my plan to make a second downtown area in the suburbs didn't work out once I realized that the game wouldn't allow me to place lots anywhere since everything seems "unrouteable." Great. I ended up bulldozing a couple tall buildings (I think Verdana lofts is one of them) on the outskirts of town (near the graveyard) and putting in rows of townhouses. |

Check out the rabbit hole rugs by Jynx/Raven Shadow: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=435107 The idea is that you would create your own buildings, which can serve as the shells. Want a school modeled after a university building? A business office that's only two stories, or even only one story? Want the hospital to look different? No problem, as all are possible with the rugs/doors. However, there's something to note about the doors. Know how the doors have arrows, which show the "direction?" For most doors, it doesn't matter except for CASt, since they can be used from either side (of course). But with rabbit hole doors, you need the arrows to point towards the direction where you want sims to enter. If you don't do this, you will find that sims will suffer constant route-fails. For the rugs, while each are 2x2 in size, you should ensure that there's a one tile border of free space around it, so they effectively need 4x4. This is to make sure route-fails don't happen. |

BenC0722, this is absolutely great advice and that warning about routing problems (otherwise I will see myself raging of frustrations). I am definitely going to put it in my game and give it a try. Hope there won't be a conflict with other mods I have, and I will have a more wonderful game play experience thank to this mod. |

I know that this is slightly off-topic but has anyone tried placing rabbithole rugs on lots that are categorised differently, like a school rug in a library? Will both be functional still and will both map tags show and I could click both of them? |

babele44, just for you, I tested it. Placing a 2x2 rug in a large empty 4x5 area in front of the library. Then wait until nightfall to bulldoze school lot. Then I make active my 3 delinquent teens household. Next day 8am school bus came, as I followed them on bus, suddenly my camera appeared way off city, probably these 3 sims were transported to some underground locations since school were deleted. I had to reset lot. Then manually enrolled school for them. 20 hours later school bus came. They jumped on it, and this time, went straight to the library. And as they disappeared into the rug, their portraits point into the rug. The library lot still shows (Library) but in Map view, the kids can see the red school icon. So at this point it is ok to say it works, but you have to reassign all children and teens in the neighborhood or else they will end up stuck somewhere underground (and you can't see anything but green meadow). This test is rather limited because School is not some place sims go autonomously like a club or bar, or gym. But I know the library works because there is some opportunity still popping for one of the sim. So far I am happy I found these rabbit hole rugs. |

Good to know, thank you. I was actually not planning to delete the old school but to add a second one, because the one that's there is currently overcrowded leading to DDoS attacks at the front door. And so I thought that the library might by a nice place for the second one (in a dark, murky and moldy basement, of course). |

With respect to the library, I think EA did quite a job with it. I am not saying I 100% approve the design as is, but I totally like that style, although the interior looks way too plain. You really have that many children at school? The only thing that comes remotely close to DDoS attack for me are a few hotspots when sims are honestly lining up to get in elevator. Don't know how the NPCs do it, but my active sims require several command queues before they are willing to go up. I end up adding 2nd elevator wherever possible. It is acceptable because IRL double elevators are everywhere, in fact, my local mall has 4 elevators in the same spot from the parking garage. Speaking of garage, Banzai's club parking complex is sweet. Coupling with AwesomeMod's feature "sims appear from their cars instead of in front of the lots", I literately saw my sims drive in, car appears in 1 of the parking space, and 4 sims walked out from the car, dressed in formal wear (Banzai's dress code), and slowly walked into the side door by the parking lot. It was an absolute gorgeous moment when 4 of my "Party Animal" celeb girls went to Banzai for the first time. | |

Good for you, because I stopped laughing when I realised that this was probably one of the reasons for the morning hiccups of my game. I did a quick test, however with a rabbithole rug inside the library. It works, too, but now the library map tag is gone from Map View. Not really a tragedy, I guess, because the building nevertheless still behaves like a library, library buff included. One of the things I haven't tested, however, is what a bookworm Sim will do when I click on it and tell it to go to the library. I guess in my neighbourhood I will just make a second library, put the school rug in and call it the Lisa Bunch Memorial Centre, because in my SV games she usually failed at school and ended up with horrible traits, no permanent job and a bunch of illegitimate children from her teenage years

I like Bridgeport. It would be perfect, if it wasn't that routing problemme. The sky is beautiful, really. And you should bulldoze some buildings such as useless apartments (you can make better ones), clubs (Banzai, like babele44 said), whatever. Hope my English is ok. |

Feeling like a bit of a chat about creation or just... whatever (not necessarily sims)?
