Default Happy 7th Birthday MTS!
On this day in 2004, modthesims2.com was registered as a domain, marking today the 7th birthday of the site. Obviously there wasn't an actual website on that day, but one followed very soon after, built on the e107 CMS platform and running on a shared 10$ hosting account.

In the early days most of the discussions where about figuring out the file formats, and seeing just how the game was made up. I quickly found that as the popularity of the site took off, that within a few months with the release of TS2 we had almost 1000 people online at a time. The only problem was that the front page took 10 mins to load (I'm not kidding!). I'm suprised people still kept visiting, but they did. It was at this point that I started to hack around with the underlying PHP code and try to speed things up, but ultimately, in October 2004, I decided to move to the vBulletin system, which has since been heavily modified and rewritten to support the custom features we have here on MTS.

We've seen a lot of changes over the years - the splitting off of the adult content, and of the discussion forums (and subsequent re-integration), and many new features such as a new look download page, re-organised download categories, and a new download browser, not to mention the upload wizard, and, more recently, the introduction of jQuery and a more Web 2.0 feel to the site with the introduction of more AJAX features, jQuery UI and Themeroller.

It's been a long road, and it certainly doesn't feel like 7 years, but I guess time flies - I'm pretty much the only staff member who has been here since the beginning, but I'd like to thank all of the old and current staff members, and creators, and you the members, for helping to make this site one of the best there is!

With the Sims 3 still going strong, who knows what the future will hold, but rest assured this site will be around for a long time to come!

Story books are full of fairy tales, of Kings and Queens, and the bluest skies.

There should probably be cake and ice cream. And strippers.

Not absolutely sure, but I probably am the oldest member on MTS....Maybe its a shame to be sooo old and to be addicted to the Sims ...and,of course, to MTS, because both are inseparable. I was one of the early members and have tons of sweet memories from great creations which popped up with the morning coffee.And...from great tutorials.AND: from so many great creators !

Honestly I can say that MTS, to a certain extent, has changed my life... Well, "7" is a magical number, perfect for a very special birthday. Will add some champagne to Hysterical's cake and icecream.

I've been here nearly since the beginning (spring of '05), and I can remember when all the new meshes required a "Testers Wanted" in the title, and the main downloads page was just a box with the latest threads, much like the one at the top of the community forums. What a long way we've come since then!

Happy birthday, MTS, and thank you Delphy, for creating and maintaining one of the best sites on the web!

On a side note, apparently it was 4 years ago today that I joined this site as well. Freaky coincidence...

Excuse me, but I just have to explode.

Happy Birthday! Don't know what I would do without the site because, as Mehrlicht said, in my mind the Sims and MTS have become inseparable. Love it, y'all do a great job!
