EDIT: Fixed the problem myself. I am having problems with the digital download of Generations. I installed the new patch and was able to install the game, but as soon as one of my sims moves in live mode, the game crashes to the desktop without an error message. I have: cleared my caches, pulled out all of my custom content, both packages and simspacks, (I actually removed all my custom content before installing the EP), removed my user files, and followed the instructions here to add the Generations executable to my DEP exceptions (I hope I'm phrasing that right). The only thing I'm unsure of how to do is determine if my system specs are enough to run the game. I have the base game, Late Night, Ambitions, World Adventures and the only stuff pack I have is HELS. The game ran fine with all those EPs and SPs, including a ton of CC, until installing Generations. Please help I'm near tears of frustration here. Here are my system specs. Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.110408-1633) System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard System Model: HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M 380 @ 2.53GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.5GHz Memory: 4096MB RAM Page File: 1747MB used, 6038MB available DirectX Version: DirectX 11 Thanks in advance. |

I ran the Sims 3 crash log analyzer http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=416883 and it told me it was indeed a DEP problem. I removed all the exceptions I had added to DEP, rebooted, added back ONLY an exception for the downloader and Generations, rebooted again, and voila, it worked. I hope this works for you. This is a frustrating problem. |
