Oi, I come bearing screenshots in hope that they will reveal the truth!..and possibly help solve this overall problem. This is actually two questions: 1). Why is it when I try to add multiple groups, the recolor file that I linked my mesh to disappears in Bodyshop? And, this is not the first time..this has been happening countless of times. First time it happened I thought I just made a mistake..but when it comes to the fourth and fifth time, then I think I'm missing something here. Explain: Before I go further, let me explain my project. I'm trying to make an alpha shirt with a long skirt that goes a little below the shins. Here, I was testing out combining alpha groups from multiple meshes, from Warlockk and sleepless_angel. I put everything together, correct the UV map, check the comments, and then export like normal. I follow Cat's tut on how to add recoloring groups, and I believed I was following it pretty well. However, here's where my second question comes in: 2) What does this mean? 1. Add your CRES and SHPE and link them in the 3DIR to the correct age as you usually do, to link the recolour package to your mesh. Remember to delete the CRES and SHPE from the package when you’re done. This is the first step to making recoloring packaging files, in CatofEvilGenius's tutorial on alpha layers, and I simply thought that this was part of the OLD method of linking meshes from one of Tiggerypum's tut. I'm I wrong to assume this? Anyways, like I said, I do have some screenshots and I'll leave my package files if anyone wants to see if I did anything incorrectly. I've tried creating alpha layers with the hoola skirt, but those projects ended in disaster. I know how to link and extract meshes like the back of my hand, and have been successful thus far until this project of alphas. I also provided a screenshot of the package file, as well. If you want me to provide the comments, I'd be more than happy too..also, don't hesitate to tell me to start over if it may be a linking issue.. ~over and out Figs |

You're right. Adding CRES and SHPE manually is the old way of doing things. Before you go adding alpha groups to your recolour, just link it to your mesh using the Linking tool in SimPE (it's in the same place as the Extract tool that you use to get your files when you're making a new mesh... just follow the instructions that pop up and you should be fine). Once your recolour is properly linked to your mesh, then you can go crazy and add a bunch of alpha layers. |

Thanks fakepeeps7!! Now I feel a bit silly. ![]() Okay, after reading this, I went back and made a new recolor file, linked the mesh, and actually CHECKED to see if I did link it correctly..............errrmmmmm BEFORE Linking Mesh properly AFTER Linking properly (there's more screenshots of epic borked proportions) Well, all I can say is that you did answer both my questions-- now to actually fix the mesh, and I should be all set. Otherwise I'll be bothering my sister Diekatze, who took one look at this and exclaimed "What did you do!?" who will hopefully help me with the bone assignments if this was the case...Unless anyone wants to make a suggestion for my next course of action, I'll be happy to accept ![]() ~over and out Figs edit: Yep..just looked at it in Milkshape and there is indeed two sets of skeletons. I thought I didn't add the extra joints...I'll see what I can do. |

Feeling like a bit of a chat about creation or just... whatever (not necessarily sims)?
