This is loosely inspired by a house my in-laws are building--very loosely. Particularly, the roof is annoying me--I want it to cover the porch but it's so overwhelming. No cc. 2x2 lot, about $50,000, intended for retirement home. What do you think of the yard? It's a bit sparse, should I add some cc plants? The pics I'm basing it off of have a lot more vegetation, but in game there's only so much to be done with rotating trees to make them look different. I'm also frustrated with wall deco, again not finding things that look reasonable without going cc. |

I think it's a nice start! Maybee you should could remove some trees, or if you want to keep the 'jungle' effect ,move one of the trees ( please see my pic badly edited with paint :p) But it's a personal preference... Also, if you want a jungle garden, you should use less different types of trees. But again, that's a personal preference. |

Like swap that one with one of the shorter trees, or delete it entirely? I'm definitely going for the near-jungle look. My in-laws are in the middle of building a house, right in the middle of the city, and there are bananas and palms and everything just everywhere. I was thinking there wasn't enough tree variety, but we don't have ten different varieties of banana in Sims 2! |

Reality and Sims don't always go hand in hand. Your trees are just overwhelming the lot and they're covering most of the house, including the roof. I can't really offer any advice on what I can't see. If you play that lot, as is, those trees are going to be in the way and you're not going to be able to see the sims without a lot of camera spinning. I'd pick a couple of spots to group some trees then add bushes and low growing plants around them. |

Yes, I'd go with jaded's suggestions as at the moment we can't see what the roof looks like at all. |

Quick pic with just trees deleted. (You can totally see terrain paint where they were.) Now, I'm gonna play test some with the trees, the sims I had very briefly on the lot yesterday didn't seem to have any issues but I didn't run them long. Edit: The Goodies aren't having any problems so far, though Mr. Humble dropped the computer blocking the front door and the garden club let them in, but says the landscaping is sparse! I need to relocate the bookcase: it's in the way of me seeing the toilet. I did have to zoom and rotate to tell them to use the hammock, which turned out to be backwards. Faith tested the puddle but didn't catch anything. |

I agree too. I didn't think in it at first, but that's true that all these trees will be annoying while playing. |

I'd have a go at changing the roof. the main roof is ok but the roof at the back right needs to come up so the join is not creating a gutter. It might also look better lowered. The house looks much better without all the trees. I'd just add a few grouped and some bushes as Jaded suggested. You've got lots of trees around the house from the hood. I like the layout inside the house. |

Ok, for the roof, I'd have to play around with it to figure out what would work best. Here are a couple of suggestions: Put a hipped roof on the back right room. A gable roof on the left with the ridge running left to right, then a gable roof over the main part of the house all the way to the edge of the patio. I don't know what EPs and SP's you have, but, I'd use (if you have it, individualroofslopeangle to lower the main roof and tweak the other roofs until they line up. Another possibility is to do the above but instead of a gable roof over the main part of the house, use a hipped roof and then 1 tile back from the edge, use a gable roof back to the main roof then use roofslopeangle to lower everything. |
