I originally had all the expansion packs, including Generations but Generations wont work on my laptop because I dont have the correct system specs according to the EA tech guy I spoke to. So I uninstalled all the EPs to just play my base game but now even that's not loading via the launch screen.
So I went to the Tech Help section of this website and I did everything it said in order beginning with deleting cache files, removing custom content, and removing user files. None of this helped. I tried surfing this thread for help but most threads are asking for help with the EPs and not the base game. Below are my system specs..can someone please help! And when you explain things please tell me in DUMMY terms lol. I'm not super tech savvy. Thank you!

  • General - Integrated Graphics
The reason for your issue is that your computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements to play TS2/TS3.
In particular, you don't actually have a graphics card - you have integrated graphics, which is just a chip on your motherboard. Most laptops come with integrated graphics, as do some desktops; and while salesmen often claim that integrated graphics chips are just as good as real graphics cards, they're not.

Integrated graphics chips are designed for people who just use their computers to read email, type up documents, and play minesweeper - they are not suitable for high stress games like TS2/TS3. At the very least, playing TS2/TS3 with integrated graphics will mean the game looks terrible; at the worst, you could permanently damage your computer.
If you have integrated graphics, the other requirements - particularly minimum processor speed - go up to compensate. You can see the increases here, under "If you have a non-T&L capable video card...".

This FAQ contains tips on things you can do to improve your gameplay, and prolong the life of the integrated chip: Game Help:Onboard Graphicswiki
This is MTS's recommended minimum system specs Be aware that, even if you follow all the tips in the above article, you will probably have to upgrade or replace your computer to alleviate all problems.

Everything about that laptop is too weak to play even the base game. From the OS, to the CPU, to the integrated graphics chipset. The only thing that meet the bare minimum is the RAM.
But since the CPU is too weak, others all fail. If you click on that benchmark link, you cannot find the minimum CPU we recommend for Vista, it is on the next page over, that's how weak that laptop is. And the OS is a crippled OS, not a full Vista OS, it cannot do the standard OS stuff regular Windows need to do.

Sorry!

Yay! One who doesn't need convincing! Sensible decision.

If and when you do have the budget and are on the lookout for your next Sims dream machine, we have helpful threads under Computer Tech Help. I took a year off myself to not play and save up. So I do totally sympathize.
