Ok. So I bought a new 640g external hard drive just for Sims 3/Sims Medieval. I understand that I have to uninstall the game from the computer and reinstall it onto the hard drive.

However, When I click "Custom" for the type of installation at the beginning of the game, it gives me where the game would go C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Sims 3 (see screenshot 1)

I obviously choose Browse to pick a different spot to install the game. When I choose the G: Drive (that's where my external hard drive is) it doesn't give me the option of the G:\Prog files etc... I want it to be there, so I don't have to mess around with figuring out how to run CC from MTS.

Is it possible to copy the Program Files from the computer onto the HDD, then when I install the Sims 3 game, I can click G:\Program Files (idk what to do next)? (see screenshot 2)

All I really want to know what to do is how to get the external HDD to have the same file setup as the one inside the computer. Can someone help?

James, You have to create the folder yourself. Open Windows Explorer, click on your external drive, right click in the right-hand pane, select New>Folder and rename the folder to Program Files. You can do this to create new folders and subfolders anytime you like. Your C drive/users/name/documents/Electronic Arts/Sims3 folder will still be operative for required content and you should leave that alone, as that is where the game looks and there's no point (and no way I know) to change this.

Uhm...just change the drive letter from C to G, then click OK or Next or whatever. The installer will create the folders if they are not present. That is, if you want the same paths.

Or you can also simply put in G:\Games\Electronics Arts\blah blah blah, and remember this path differs when you're reading guides, etc.
I still like to maintain the "Program Files (x86)" however, so I know it's a 32-bit program and have my 64-bit programs in G:\Program Files\, ie without the (x86) just like in C:\ drive.
