Hiya all,

I'm in the process of making a nordic style world.
It wouldn't be complete without the huge seasonal differences in night-length would it?
So I was wondering, how can one change the hours on which it gets dark/light
I know this is somewhere around 6pm on the sims 2, but it's totally unrealistic for a neighbourhood that is situated on a high latitude.

So, any ideas on how to do this?

I did see your other posts on this topic, so please don't bite my head off. If you are unhappy with this suggestion then ignore it

As far as I know, you cannot change the times of night and day. What you can do is edit the lighting. Perhaps its a possibility to use one of the lighting hacks and make the transition time of the sunrise and sunset longer?

Where the game is installed, in ..\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Lights\Lighting.txt:

change day-night light cycle transition duration: change the 2 instances of "transitionTimes 2 100" to: "transitionTimes 30 100"

...or however long you want the sunset/sunrise to last. 30 (seconds in reality but minutes in gametime) is pretty close to reality but set it to whatever you want. For some reason Maxis decided to make the day/night light transition so short (2 seconds) that it looks very unrealistic.

Note that the day-night transition button in buy/build mode will be affected, as well as the light fade transition for rooms with/without no doors/windows and when adding lights. (Light fading doesn't seem to increase when speeding up time either.)

I already knew that but thanks anyway
I was a bit extremely frustrated back there after all those hours of fruitless searching for a way. Now I'm okay.

If so, you might want to apologize to all of the people that you insulted.

It might convince some people to take you off of their ignore list.

If they can't even comprehend a simple question, then how are they going to understand my apology...?
