Hi I think this is the right place to put this. I just found out how to make paintings. By cloning them with S3OC and then changing the picture and importing it through s3pe. I made a couple of clones of the same painting and changed the picture and each one had it's own description. When I go in game all the clones have the same name. Example: I made 3 cloned painted and when I created them I named them Dog, Cat, House. And all of them will say Cat. How can I fix this. Sorry if I wrote this to confusing. Please help . Thank you. Also I looked everywhere to find out how to fix this before asking and found no help.

This is the right place to put your question. I'm not completely understanding what it is that you're doing though. Could you give a more detailed description of what you're doing when creating just one single painting object?

I got on S3OC and find the painting and clone it and change the name while I'm cloning it. Then I take that package file and open it on S3PE and find the right file and export it and open it in a paint program and change the image. Then I import it back in the package file with s3pe. I'll save it and put it on my game. Then I went and cloned the same painting and changed the name but in game it will just have one of the names I picked even though they are shown as separate items in game.

Is your game in English? I think when you change the description in S3OC it only changes the English description. You would need to tick the box to copy all to English for it to change for other languages.

Are you clicking the renumber/rename internally button to make the new painting unique?

Yes it has been clicked. But under the button it says *Unique Name* Should I also be changing the unique name since I should click that button?

In theory it should included the timestamp in the seed for the renumbering, so you *should* be ok, as long as you chose a different file name to save to. Though "unique name" is intended to be unique, so the name it offers is only a suggestion based on your name and the original object name, and is intended to be changed at your discretion.

What could be happening is that the string GUIDs are not being renumbered and are all pointing to the same string.... in order to analyse this, please could you do an experiment. If they are all saying "Cat" please can you remove the one that is meant to say cat, and see what the others say then.

I took it out and the rest just changed name to another paintings name. I took out the Cat one and the other two named Dog and House that I left are both named Dog now.

To make a brand new object from an existing object you need to 1. copy the object. 2. open the copy of the object with s3oc. 3. hit the Clone or Fix button. 4. Click the renumber/rename internally box so it has a checkmark in it. 5. Give the object a unique name in the Unique name (used as internal name and hash seed) box. 6. Click the Start button.

You should be able to salvage the work you've already done by just opening each of the packages and following steps 3-6 above.

Ok thank you. I wasn't changing the Unique name so maybe that was why it did it.

Yes, I suggested the test because if the remaining two were still called cat, it would have been a very different problem from what it turned out to be - you have or had a situation where they were overriding each other - ie a clash of GUIDs.

Ah - which version of S3OC are you running? Upon investigation I have remembered this was an early problem that got fixed. Let me know your version number, then I can work out whether it crept back in.

Having consulted with Peter, it seems it was a deliberate design decision to base the STBL keys on the unique name. You are supposed to actually choose a unique name for each seperate object. But because we can see that some people are not sure whether they should change what S3OC offers by default, we're going to start adding some random numbers to the suggested unique name (which the user can still edit anyway) so that it doesn't matter if you don't get round to changing them.
