Lot Names AFTER World Export... #1 |

OK, first off I'm sorry if this has been sorted out already but can't find the thread where it was mentioned. Anyway, this is obviously regarding lot names when a world has been exported. More specifically, this is relating to Hidden Springs. So I finally got Hidden Springs looking how I wanted it with a nice little island connected by a bridge (which thankfully turns out to actually work) but I've encountered the problem with the lots becoming something like dc03/world/lot:16 (or something like that). I renamed them in CAW where it says Lot Name so I presumed (well hoped mostly) that that change would fix it. Of course, it hasn't (else I obviously wouldn't be posting this thread). So has anyone figured a way round this? I can only think of one, that is to go into Hidden Springs in game and export each individual lot to the game bin and then go into CAW and then EIG and import them. Of course, unfortunately, this does not enable you to import homes with households (sims) in them. If, having to do it this way, does anyone know a way of enabling the sims tab in EIG so I can import a house with sims in it for the lots that are already there in Hidden Springs? Any thoughts, preferably ones that are regarding how to do what I've mentioned, would be most welcome. Oh and sorry for the long post, Jay |

The only way I've been able to do it is edit the names in EIG. If anyone else knows a way around this tedious exercise, let us know.

I've retired. But I'm still a pro at lurking.

The lot address is given in CAW by editing the lot properties. The lot name needs to be given in EIG by editing lot description, or in game doing the same. |

Thanks. Figured that was the case. How do you rename a lot successfully though with the limitations placed on the amount of characters allowed? Note sure about other worlds, but Hidden Springs have lots with names that are longer than the allotted characters

I think the only way you could get past the character limitation is to use a mod, such as Twallan's debug enabler or master controller to rename the lot, as that will remove the restriction. The easiest thing to do is to just give it a shorter name. |

Normally I wouldn't be overly bothered, but EA seem determined to give lots names with characters that extend beyond the regular allotted characters. I wonder how they override it. I wonder if they have a mod, or they bypass the code or what... So do those mods you mentioned affect the game in any other way? Are they easily removed like other mods after the names are successfully changed? Will gameplay be adversely affected in any way after they are removed? Thanks ![]() Jay |

You'd need to read the instructions for the mod to answer those questions, the ones I suggested will probably achieve what you want but there are others which will do this too. Twallan's mods are here: http://www.the-isz.com/nraas/index.php |
