Random, Stupid Thought about Achievements #1 |

I was looking at the achievements... I noticed there's nothing that clearly includes skintones and/or eyes. Do they fall under makeup? Or "new body type or slider"? Just wondering, because I was pondering about uploading a skin. And lately I've found that the achievements are really fun to try to collect all of them (props to whoever came up wiz that idea). So yeah. Just wondering. I dunno. |

I think if there were achievements for everything, people would rush more to get them all done. The point of the site is to make useful and nice stuff, and those two are usually not very well combined with a "competition" to make it all done. Making a hair mesh or a world etc. is also a bigger challenge than making eyes or a tattoo. I'm not extremely good at making CC stuff for my sims, but I often make eyes for them without no problem. It's nice to get the message that you've done an achievement, but it shouldn't be the only reason for uploading. Besides the "thank you" and how many downloads you've got. Those two I find quite exciting to follow, as they give you an idea of what people prefer

I think I read...somewhere...that the achievements are limited by the free time that the person who makes the pictures has, and I can definitely believe it. So, it doesn't mean that there won't ever be one for skintones or eyes, just that there isn't one YET. I, personally, think it's hilarious that I have one called "Organized," because IRL me and organization are mutually exclusive terms. I think I lost the left hemisphere of my brain sometime back, but I don't seem to miss it overmuch... But hey, if recoloring desks makes me "organized," then so be it. I'll take it.

Redmond Flats, my eleventy-th stab at a "Build A City" challenge. Unfortunately, I didn't keep up with documenting it. But you can find rules and tracking spreadsheets and stuff there.
For stuff what I've made, there's my LJ. There be downloads there, some of which aren't/won't be here on MTS. |

Yeah, iCad, I'm the same way... my Mom tells me to clean my room, she's kind of a neat freak, and I'll just put my clothes in the hamper and make a little path so that you can walk around. It works for me, but my mom will be like, You call THIS clean?! Malfoya: Yeah, the way I stated the first post kind of makes it sound like I would only upload the skintone if I got an achievement... I didn't mean it like that! I meant that I was curious when you upload things like skintones and eyes, if you get an achievement, and which one. I had actually thought there were achievements for everything, because they went as far as to make an achievement for an upload to the office section... that seems a little over-specified to me. Actually come to think of it, maybe people weren't uploading in the office section enough so they made an achievement to "encourage" it. Yes, that's the conclusion I've come to. But I agree with you on the "thanks" though. |

iCad is quite right. There will be achievements for ALL THE THINGS. Once I end up with six months alone with Illustrator and no work to do whatsoever. Yeah, about that. |

To be honest, I've never payed that much attention to the achievements. I seriously have 10,000 downloads? That's really hard to believe. I know the llama butt one was for that April fools thing, right? As for the cookie achievement- I am hilarious, people. I didn't even know about it yesterday, and now it is imperative that I get that cookie. gawl! |

Well, see, you need to come up with some kind of site-wide initiative here. Everyone who wants more possible achievements gives a dollar (or whatever). Call it the "Whiterider Achievement-Making Vacation Fund." Well, OK, give it a better, flashier title than that. ![]() Anyway, promote the hell out of it. Then once you have enough donations, you can quit your job, commune with Illustrator (Ew!) for six months, and we'll all be happy. ...Well, except you, of course. After six months with Illustrator, I'd be flippin' insane, I think... And I'm with paksetti: I want my cookie, too, dammit!

Hahaha... by the way, I suggest "Genetic Counselor" for skin and eyes, you know, in case you ever decide to make one and need inspiration for a name THANK YOU PAKSETTI! Thank you SO much for saying what the Happy Llama Butt was for... I was SO confused. I was like, how do you be a happy llama butt. Haha, that gives me a funny mental picture. Well random side note, I dissected a sheep eyeball in science today and it's LITERALLY ALL I CAN THINK ABOUT. Me and this other girl were tugging on it because we both wanted to cut out the lens, then we stopped and were like... we are fighting over a sheep eyeball. I want my cookie too. nom nom nom |
