I'm having this problem with a world I'm creating. It just happened today. So basically what is happening is that I was placing roads and all of a sudden my computer starts slowing down.

So, I wait for it to speed up again, and I look at my world and I see this huge gray patch of land in my world. I have no idea what it is, but when ever I look at it, The Sims 3 Create A World will slow down dramatically until I look away. When I look away, my computer and Create A World speed up again. I tried clearing all my caches but nothing seems to have happened. It still shows up in my world.

I really need help, I don't want to have to redo my world again! (And all the backups I have go too far back)

Here is an image of whatever I'm experiencing.

Please Help Me!!!

It also shows up in Edit In Game and has the same effect as it does in CAW

I'll never submit anything here again. You mods are too hard to please. I deleted two of my worst submissions. How those got approved I'll never know.

I've not seen anything quite like that before, but it could possible be a corruption of the textures for that particular chunk. Try backing up your worlds folder and then deleting the _KEY resource in that world to refresh the database.

Doing just that didn't seem to help. It still appears and it still slows everything down :\

Darn, I was hoping that would do it!

Next question, does it correspond to a single chunk? Turn on chunk boundaries to see. What terrain paints do you have in that area? backup your world and try deleting all of the terrainpaint layers, then change the base texture to a different texture. Does that get rid of it? (Don't save, this is just to test things).

Do you have any lots in that area? It might be worth checking out the backups to see if the older versions have this corruption.

If the terrain paints don't work, try removing the roads you were placing when it happened. I have a world where the terrain will break in similar giant rectangles (though in bright blue, not gray) when placing certain roads or lots. Sometimes the tear is about the size of the lot, other times it covers huge pieces of land. It's as though the world tries to recalculate placements and gives up.

If deleting the new roads does the trick, you can probably replace them just by adding them in a different order. Weird, but it usually works.

Thanks for the help all, but it still didn't seem to work, so I'm just going to continue on from a backup that I have.
