Old 2nd Nov 2011, 11:32 AM DefaultIs Any One Else Getting Stuttering? #1

With the addition of the new expansion pack Pets, I striped my game back to basics (meaning no downloaded content at all) and for some reason I am experiencing some serious stuttering and/or 10-15 second long pauses when shifting from a Sim to a Pet. I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem or if anyone might have a suggestion as to what I can do to eliminate the problem?

Thanks a head of time!

Is this with your old savegame or with a new one?

Try refreshing the user files (see the bit entitled 'remove user files') to see if it happens then:

Also see this:

Be aware that Pets has increased the amount of resources that the game requires considerably. If you post your system specs that would be helpful too:

I have the pets expansion and it worked fine until two days ago. Then suddenly after playing a few hours suddenly something happened to my game and time stoped moving for few seconds and it kept happening. This made me unable to play normaly, but I managed to send my sims on vacation and there everything was fine .After my sims came back to home world it was all the same. I thought that was because of my mods , so I removed them, but that didn't helped. Also I removed cache files and that didn't helped too. I know tried evrything @simsample suggested, but it's all the same

What neighborhood are you playing in? Many/most/all of them have routing issues that have been fixed by MTS downloads. That tends to cause massive lag in unfixed games when townies etc get stuck.

I was also having some game stuttering in a user created world, and I used "Reset Everything" from Twallan's Master Controller, and it improved the gameplay. Also, have a look on the traveldb.package file, in your "Saves" folder. If it is too big, just delete it (or move it to a safe place) and the game will generate a new one.

Yes, I experience stuttering also. I think it's the path finding problems of NPCs, pets etc, which seem worse with the latest patch, and causes problems. Sims just takes a long time before figuring out a way to get someplace.

Ok, my game froze again for a while and then I got an Error Trap message, about a wild horse. Using Twallan's (our Saviour!) Overwatch, I centered on that horse and it was stuck in a subway station, creating routing problems. At the moment, I'm not aware of disallowing wild animals to use the subway. I guess we'll have to wait for a mod.

I've had the worst lag evar in Appaloosa Plains (at first), then in any "home" world (it worked fine in vacation worlds), but it, too, magically disappeared. I've done some cleaning using awesome and twallan's Master Controller but I honestly still don't know what caused the lag or what fixed it. Guess we should just be happy it works now! :D

Does your TS3 take 15+ minutes to load? Use The Custom Launcher to merge your mods and improve loading times dramatically. http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=408296

I don't have a problem with the lag for a fresh start. But after playing it for a very very long time, it became more and more lagging as usual, like the other worlds.

In my previous game I had problems with vacation world too.The first time I visited one of those worlds everything was fine, but if I visited same world again my sim disappeared it was like it is not existing at all. But after i started to use twallan's Master Controller, Portrait panel and traveling mods those worlds are all right it seems. But my sims just came back from china there they spent they honeymoon and I now have one additional family member a son who also is in elementary school More importantly my both sims had a wish to have a first child and it is still there I'm sorry that I'm off topic here.

Ellacharm3d has fixes for the various worlds and their routing problems, if you guys haven't seen them. And looks like the one for Appaloosa Plains should be out soon, too.

I have her(?) .world file fixes for all of the 'hoods. For me at least, Bridgeport and the vacations 'hoods are basically unplayable without them.

The fact that you're describing the neighborhood as being fine at first and then getting worse and worse makes me think it might be a stuck sims etc sort of thing. If you haven't already, do a "resetsim *" command in the cheat window to reset all the sims in the hood. And if you use awesomemod, try "fixall".

I've had serious lag/freezes at times..usually when the paparazzi show up at my Sims house..it freezes or lags when they arrive and when they leave. Not sure if it happens in all worlds but it definitely happens in Appaloosa

mine have graduated from lagging terribly to freezing outright. now it just skips the lag altogether and freezes...and i lose all my progress. puts a damper on wanting to play.

what, you dont let your horse use the subway irl? pfft, thats the most normal normalcy that ever normal-ed. totally accurate. im sure EA thought of it before they released Pets.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I've been having some lagging problems in-game as well since I got Pets and the Patch. At first the game would be a little slow, and I thought "Well, new game, no mods. So yeah it'll be slow." But the first new family I created had a horse, and my game became terribly slow. As in every ten minutes or so it had to stop to process even some simple things, and CAS was torture because it took forever to load. And then after about a week of owning the game (and only playing it say 3 times), it would just freeze and crash when my sim was riding her horse.
It's happened twice already within two days, and after that I just stopped playing. I dunno what it could be.
My laptop's up to stuff to where there's no graphics problems or anything, and all my incompatible CC has been cleaned out.
I'm not sure what to do, because playing with a laggy game and worrying that it'll crash any minute is not something I want to do.
