Hi Sorry if this isn't the right place to put this but I was thinking about going back to Sims 2...really miss it. Any how I have windows 7 64bit and was curious if anyone else that has windows 7 how does the game run and can I run it? Thank you so much for your time and have a great day. P.S sorry I put this on the challenge thread, I seriously thought I put it on this one. |

I've been dragging my feet on getting Windows 7. So, while I cannot personally tell you what my own experiences are, I can say that I've been keeping an eye out for answers to the same question. I've been encouraged by what I've read - it seems that there are people out there playing TS2 on Windows 7 with no troubles. I've seen most of those types of threads on the official TS2 forums, so you may be interested in checking there as well. Here's one of the threads: http://bbs.thesims2.ea.com/communit...d2d4e9e34d6a732 |

TS2 is playing better than ever on my Windows 7 computer. Though that might also be due to the fact that I have a desktop with lots more RAM compared to the little laptop I had. |

I recently got a new machine, with W7, and lots more RAM. Been playing on it for a couple of months, and I've noticed that it loads way faster, and gameplay has fewer freezes, & crashes. I have noticed a few quirks though...like a wicked witch who was wearing a red pantsuit, and had regular skin & no hair(never saw that one on the old machine!) flying in to do the bug curse at the Crypt-o-Night club. |

I called EA on my cell ( tech department ) I was told Sims 2 was played and test for many hours on window 7, they also read me an article that they had just gotten which said Sims 2 work just fine on window 7, I am not sure for I do not have window 7, but from all reports Sims 2 work on window 7 time will tell I hope they are right.

Sims 2 works just fine on my laptop which uses Windows 7. Of course it probably helps that I have 4GB of RAM on the lappie as opposed to the measley 1.25GB on my desktop pc which is rather old.... I must upgrade that at some point. |

Sims 2 works perfectly fine for me and I am running windows 7 64-bit on my laptop. My laptop is, however, only a few months old and has 4GB RAM, so you may need to take that into account. |

I know this tread is old but if there's anyone out there who can help I'll really appreciate it. I just bought a new desktop - amazing specs, lots o ram, ... Windows 7. While I love Windows 7, I think I love the Sims 2 better and for now they are not getting along. I have installed all expansions up to Freetime. The game loads super fast but when I go into the neighbourhood I see no roads, strange code-like stuff on the ground, I see houses but when I enter them, everything's a strange colour. The plumbbobs over the houses in the neighbourhood view that would indicate that a family lives there has no shape, just a strange greenish transparent hue. The trees and terrain looks fine but that's it. Please help. Please? |

Sounds like a buggy install. I shouldn't think it's the operating system - Win 7 seems to work just fine with TS2 (my experience too). I think I'd try a reinstall - sounds like something has gone wrong. | |

I'm no techie, but just a thought: have you checked the video card? My W7 PC came with a poor video card for the game. |

From what I know (and experienced, as a Windows 7 user for more than a year already), there's no problem with it and Sims 2 ^^ It works great. |

Those effects all sound like graphics problems. Compare your video card to the stats before you go uninstalling and reinstalling. And if you're not sure, a lot of this sort of stuff is covered in the Help forum. |

I used to run Sims 2 on an old XP computer, but the RAM wasn't high enough and the walls used to blink red and black. I recently got a new desktop with Windows 7 and a lot more RAM and the walls don't blink and the game runs smoother. Check out your RAM and other computer specs before blaming the operating system. |

I agree with those who say this sounds more like a video card issue, not a W7 issue. |

As a techie, I'd have to, also, say it is most likely your video card, or, less likely, your monitor. If I hook my PC to my TV I get similar results with games. I'm running Win 7 64 bit on a quad core 2.4 megahurtz ... got twin 22 inch wide screens, and a heafty video card. Sims 2 runs great. Check to make sure your drivers are up to date. |

The only issues I have with my windows 7 laptop is the video card and of course it can't handle a lot of people on one lot (jut enough ram to work the game). It does on occasion do weird things like change the terrain or not show the water properly, but these are occasional and it generally fixes itself or I ignore it. But all in all those are issues with the hardware, I've never had an issue when playing TS2 with the operating system windows 7. |

I will warn you something, good sir/madame. If you run AnyGameStarter you must "update" all your games or else they WILL NOT RUN. Also, you have to run on high priority if you have under 3 GB RAM or else the game will lag to shit. I know this from years of playing on many machines - never ever ever try to run more than the game and MAYBE iTunes or else the game will crash. |

I LOVE ALL OF YOU!!! I received a new laptop with W7 from my most awesome and understanding hubbiekins....and the game didn't seem to download *I use the Digital Downloads, I just like them better*. I had resigned myself to just playing on our desktop, not a bad solution as it has 8gigs...but then I can't take my simmies with me anywhere and can only play in the basement office *cold and dank, but worth my simmies*. Reading this post, I went to try again, and WOW!! the game has been here alll along, just not where I expected!! I am going in.....wish me luck!! |

Nope. Integrated graphics = bad. There's great info on good builds in the Computers & Software Help forum (under Help). Better place to ask is over thereaway. |

I played Sims2 for a week on a new PC with Windows 7 and, imho, awesome GF GTX460 1Gb, and there wasn't any problem so far except for one - if I run the game for a short period of time on fastest speed and then return to normal one, when hovering a mouse over some objects, there's clear graphic distortion, I can't explain it, it returns to normal very quickly, but I never experienced that on XP with GF 6600. I haven't tested yet big lots (4x4 and bigger) to judge how is the game performance on new PC, hopefully it won't lag horribly to the point I had to quit as it was on old PC. |
