Hi,
I originally made this tutorial for a friend, but thought someone else may find use for this as well. If you are stuck on anything, feel free to ask.

Part 1

1. After starting a new project, go to the objects to clone. It will be the one with the chair icon. Scroll down until you see Décor. Click on the décor button.
2. Next, go down to the paintings and posters. Click on that and wait until it loads up the EA paintings and posters.
3. Click on a painting that looks like a shape you want your picture to be.
4. Now click the next button. Just click next on the other screen. Then click OK.

5. Click on the texture tab . You will see a drop down called “paintingSocialBunny”. We will look at that later.
6. See the overlay function? That is what we are going to modify.
7. Click the edit button.

8.Click on the Export button.
9. Open up the picture you just exported into photoshop or GIMP. Since it is a .dds format, you will get the message about displaying the mipmaps. Just click No and the picture will show up in your paint program.

10. After finding your picture in photobucket or google images, import ((file --> open) just like a .png or .jpg format) it into your paint program. Then resize it directly the same size as the main picture. In my case, the size of the bunny. See the above that I have changed the transparency on mine just to show you how it fits perfectly on the bunny. This is just for demonstration purposes. When starting out and you want to double check, you can go ahead and take the opacity down on the layer. Just remember to put it back up to 100% when you are going to flatten your image. Now it is time to save the image. You can either click “Save” or “Save As” depending on if you want to use the original picture again or not.
TIP: In Photoshop, you use the free transform or the transform - scale. Hold down SHIFT to keep the image from distorting. In GIMP, you can just click on scale down in the toolbar.

11. You will see a box about .dds since you are saving as that format. All you really have to worry about is the save format. I usually go with DXT5 or DXT1 when it comes to paintings and posters. The save format varies with what type of object you clone, but this is okay with just making an overlay.

12. Just like in step 8, you need to import the new overlay instead of exporting. Now, just click on your new overlay and it should open up in the window like below:

13. Click Okay and it will now show up in the preview like the above. You do not need to do anything else. You can just export it to the Sims3pack.

Now you have made your very own poster! If you feel satisfied with just this, then go ahead and click to export it as a Sims3pack. If not, go to the next part and I will give you some other information on your poster/painting.

See this dropdown from earlier? We are going to now pay attention to it. Just click on it like so and click second text on the menu like the one that is highlighted in blue.

Okay, so here is the options menu if you click on the little paper next to the drop down menu. Here is what each one does.
Delete: This will delete this current variation in the dropdown, getting rid of it completely.
Duplicate: This will copy the current drop down variation you are on.
Export: I have never messed with this, so I do not know anything about it. Just ignore this.
Move up: This will move up the variation. This is mostly for appearance in game.
Move Down: Does the same thing as move down, but to move down the variation.
You just follow the steps from the first phase of the tutorial to make a second variation. If it asks anything regarding replacing a texture, remember to click No so it will create a new texture.

Other things you can do is in the project tab, you can change the Name in the project settings as well as the description and price. All of this should be pretty straightforward.

Note that if you hate sim3packs, use the multi extractor that Delphy has here. This will make it a .package format for you.
