For some time I've been experiencing very inconsistent game crashes (from around the time I installed Sims 3 Generations three weeks ago). The program stops responding and a pop-up box appears asking if I want to close the game. The following is the error I've been receiving: [Exception info] date: 2011-12-29 time: 16.23.33 type: ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x00000030 address: 0x00d22aef "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe":0x0001:0x00921aef EDIT: I updated the Crash Log Analyzer and it says that it is a Corrupt Save Crash. Luckily I back up my saved games often. However, since this problem keeps occurring, I'm wondering what causes corrupt games. The computer I'm playing on is very new and it has 12 GB of RAM. Is there something I could be doing to prevent this error? |

I am getting the same error, every letter and number of it. Since I constantly rename my saves (every six game hours) I have plenty of backups, but I've been getting this crash for about two weeks. I've done the whole re-install thing, started new neighborhoods, deleted cache files, let the game create a new "The Sims 3" folder in the documents area. I keep getting it and I'd love to figure it out. Maybe we can compare notes? Karlifae |

I'm still having the crash. The exception info is the same every single time with the same access violation code and address. I've read somewhere that it still may be custom content that caused the corrupt save file. I've reinstalled all of my custom object package files. But before I go about reinstalling all of my store simpacks and CAS items, I wanted to know if all types of custom content can cause crashes or file corruptions? Has anyone experienced crashes with just store content? What about custom skintones and other CAS items? |

I've been getting the exact same crash recently. Same numbers, same addresses. It doesn't happen everytime I play, and when it does happen it can be anywhere from a few minutes to several hours after I've started playing. It started happening after I installed Pets; other than that I have no clue as to what the cause might be. |

In following with the suggestion that corrupt save crashes are caused by broken custom content, I began the long and tedious process of removing all my CC and testing it in batches. So far, I've been able to play without any corrupt save crashes after I removed a couple of Gelydh and Subaxi skins and a merged file with custom tattoos. Unfortunately, I'm not sure which exactly is the problem file. However, for the sake of actually being able to play, I figure I can do without. Next, I'll begin testing the custom objects. This process is very time consuming because I have to play for a good amount of time between adding more CC since the crashes are inrregular and not immediate. I usually play for at least an hour before shutting down, adding a new batch, and rebooting the game. I suggest testing CC to anyone who is having corrupt save game crashes that they have not been able to resolve. |
