And in NO way/form am I saying:
The Sims 2 Exchange Is Better Than Mod The Sims
OR
Don't Use The Mod the Sims Site - Use The Sims 2 Exchange!

Just Clarifying

The Exchange has always been so boring to me.

It's great for uploads for user's stories and such but I've never been able to find good downloads / compatible downloads. Not to mention its layout is really weird.

I wonder if I'll actually start posting here. Ha.

I agree. I've never been able to find stuff I like on there. I much prefer creator blogs or places like MTS with a nice forum attached and everything is organized.

Well, it's nice to see that the Exchange is back online but on the other side, the layout of it is still confusing (I never found any good downloads on that site). I'm gonna stick to MTS, many awesome downloads plus a nice, helpful & active community.

I have been able to get back on The Sims 2 site since last week. All I can do there is download stuff. The Sims 2 site appears to be like a ghost town; there hasn't been any new activity on that site since last month. I miss the stories on there, and the BBS forums.

"Its profits dropped so hard, EA freaking fired me. Those traitors freaking fired me! Is it because of the company's fallen stock? Can anyone please describe these? Dropped so hard; that stuff's Cray. Initially, it didn't phase me, but micro transact'd cost me my 8-to-2 (job)," John Riccitiello.

before I knew any better I used to lurk there quite often, it used to drive me crazy, the layout, the craptactular graphics (it was hard my eyes reading), etc but I did really enjoy the BBS & the very BEST part of it....it led me here!! So naive, didn't realize that there was such a large & creative community based on the Sims all of you seriously ROCK!! It is fabulous to know that I am not the only "adult" out there playing, I don't know anyone in RL who will admit to being a Simmer...I am working on changing that however

Thanx for info, there are some really nice downloads over there. Although I dislike the way that lots are presented: you can never understand if something is worth downloading from the random screenshots without floor plans.

I used to download all my CC from there & I wound up with tons of viruses. I don't know what it was, probably because the stuff from there is usually a bunch of different pieces of CC stitched together to 'create a sim' & isn't from the direct creator themselves. I suppose its good the story telling & such though, I used to write there, haha.

Just a quick warning for anyone who does download from the official exchange, if your going through the lots, I would stay away from the lots that have ONLY furniture & objects, such as cars, wallpapers, etc. They seem to of caused many people (including myself & my friend) problems in-game & on the computer in general.

Erm, that's... not actually true, em-em. The stuff there is just sims2packs, and they cannot contain viruses - they may contain content that's incompatible with your game which can cause problems in-game, but that would not affect your computer. You may have happened to get viruses at the same time, but you wouldn't have gotten them from the Exchange.

I didn't visit any other sites, so I narrowed it down to those being the problems. Since downloading stuff from here rather then there I haven't had a problem once, so something must of been up.

It really -can't- be that though. It's not possible to have a virus in a sims2pack. It's possible you had a virus before that which suddenly showed up, or some other wonkyness, but it's simply not possible to have gotten a virus from downloading sims2packs from the Exchange.

I'm not saying I <3 the Exchange and want to have its babies or anything, just that sims2packs, by their very nature, do not have any executable code in them; even if they did, the two programs that can handle them (the game's installer and Clean Installer) would not run that code as they simply have no function to do so.
