Dragon Ball Z Project (Updated characters and pictures - Please give me some feedback!!) #1 |
| Pandorita |
(SCROLL DOWN TO SEE THE UPDATES!!) Hi, so, I wanted to make a DBZ world for my Sims 3. I looked around the internet to find the sim version of the characters, and I found great work but it was all abandoned projects and dead links... So without further choice, I decided I'd make my own. I started with 4 sims: Bulma Briefs, Vegeta, Son Goku and Chichi. These are just first versions of them, I could really use any feedback you could give me to improve them, and if they became good enough and anyone wants them, I'll be willing to upload them. 1) Bulma Briefs She was really tough to make! And so many hair/outfit choices, since she used so many different styles in the series... Anyway, I tried to make a young adult version of her, like to say, after the end of Freeza saga, when she starts taking interest in Vegeta, but I just hated the look with the afro-like hair! So I tried a long, straight hair instead. The outfit is not any she has ever worn, but after seeing thousands of pictures of her, I put her in one I thought she *could* have worn by that point of the series. She also has a more athletic look with a different hairstyle. Without further explanation, I give you sim Bulma Briefs: (and a picture of her with the hairstyle that kinda inspired me to make her like this) She's a genius, handy, eccentric (of course, she's great for a scientist/inventor), hot headed and hopeless romantic, and she has The Tinkerer lifetime wish. However, this is only a first try and I WILL try different versions of her, with different ages/outfits/hairstyles (specially her young mommy look and the more mature, ladylike short haired look post cell saga). 2) Vegeta He was easier to make and I think came out better. That's no merit of mine, it's all due to the AMAZING Vegeta hairstyle I found over the internet! Unfortunatelly, I couldn't download the Badman shirt or the Saiyans suit (great creations!), because the links are dead (Megaupload... thank you very much FBI!) So I did as close as I could with EA and free CC I found online, 2 different versions of the pink shirt casual outfit, and one of the suit he used to train (as athletic outfit): He's athletic, disciplined, mean spirited, grumpy and a loner, and he has the Martial Arts Master lifetime wish. 3) Son Goku Same than with Vegeta here. They were perfect outfits out there but I just couldn't download them because they were old posts/dead links, so I did the best I could with EA and free CC I found. However, Goku's hair is AWESOME! I downloaded from the same site I did Vegeta's. I made him casual clothes, as we saw him wear in the few chapters he was home and not training for anything, and then his classic, training orange outfit. He's athletic, disciplined, friendly, good and brave and has the Martial Arts Master lifetime wish as well (of course! they both want to be the best!). 4) Chichi She was the easiest because EA chinese outfit was the closest I could find to her clothes. Hair though, was a little more difficult, because I wanted to use 2 different styles for her: her usual tied up bun with bangs, and the loose, straight hair for her sleeping gown (because there's no way she's going to bed with that bun!). However, here she is: She's hot headed, family oriented, natural cook, neat and disciplined (remember she used to be a martial artist too!), and has the Culinary Librarian lifetime wish (which makes sense because she's family oriented and has to feed 3 saiyans!) Well, that's it for now. I will surely appreciate any constructive criticism and comments you have on them! I'm planing to add soon: Gohan (as a child), Piccolo, Krillin, Master Roshi, Android 18, and maybe later, a child version of Trunks, a teen version of Gohan, a teen version of Videl... we'll see! You can really create a legacy world with this saga's characters! The ultimate idea is to put them all together in a medium sized world and build all their houses... yeah even Capsule Corp. Any ideas on that will be welcome too! |

Awesome I am hoping someone will do them I love your Vegeta. He look the kind of "bad man" character in the original series Just a few general suggestions. For anime characters, you need to make their eyes a little bigger and rounder (unlike real people sims). I suggest you get sliders and sliders hack for that. Also the chin need to be a bit smaller. The face need to be a bit rounder. For female anime sims you may want to use eyeliners and eye shadows that emphasis on the outer eyes corners that make their eyes looks bigger and more anime. Also you may want to try using LL's 3.0 or 2.5 skins. LL's skins are usually lighter and more doll like and they are great for anime type sims. Other than that you DZ sims look great.

Thank you CloudWalkerNZ! Your comments were really useful! I'm already using a sliders hack, otherwise it would have been impossible to make them! I was a little scared to overdo their eyes because with those sliders it's too easy to go from "OK" to "awfully deformed", but I'll try to make them bigger and see what they look like. I really think you might be right about the skintones, right now I'm using Lady Frontbum's Naughty & Nice replacement, but they're more realistic skins, not doll like. I'll try with the ones you suggested! I'm also looking for smaller eye contacts for the males, because their pupils and irises may be a little too big, but so far I haven't found any that I like. BTW, I'm working on Piccolo and Gohan right now, and found them very challenging! I've got the namekian skintone and the pointy ears slider, but that's it. I REALLY need smaller pupils and iris contacts for Piccolo, and something that looks like antennas! So far I've only found horns, and they don't go really well I also spent hours searching for the right turban and shoulderpads, but no luck yet... Too bad I can't create meshes... For child Gohan, I'm going with the bowl haircut because is the only one I found that looks similar (I'll accept other suggestions, though). I would really need a childrens sleveless t-shirt for his combat outfit (I'm making him wear Piccolo's purple outfit), one would think that wouldn't be too hard to find, well think again! No luck so far. I only found one and it was a pay item at TSR (one thing I'm certain is I will stay away from pay items) I'm also desperate to find wrist cuffs for them all! There are none for child, I've only found branded ones for female (Chichi is wearing Adidas... LOL) and the only "sort of" ones I've found for men are classified as gloves (as well as the undershirt Goku is wearing, so, I can't make him wear both)... So, if anyone knows where I can download these items I need (specially Piccolo's antennas and the wrist cuffs!), or is willing to create them for me, please give me a hand! It will be very appreciated! And we'll all be happy when they're good and finished and I can share them with the community Namaste! |

1) I can't recall seeing any antennas. I remember seeing some in Sim 2 for StarWar characters. Maybe you can email the creator to see if he/she is willing to convert them. Same go for Piccolo's turban and shoulderpads. I believe I saw a Piccolo featured at the Sim 2 section. If all fails, I suppose I can make the antennas for you since it won't take too long. I can most probably throw in some makeup for Krillin and Tien Shinhan as well. The turban and shoulderpads however will take me too much time and I am currently making 3 other Sims accessaries sets ![]() 2) I think pupils and irises scale according with the eye scale. I maybe wrong in this So a contact mostly likely won't help you. I am pretty sure aWT made a pupils and irises slider. But I can't seem to find it on his blog. I understand his stuffs are now in C3 or his blog somewhere 3) Wrist cuffs is usually part of the cloths, that why it is harder to find. Have you trying using the DBZ uniforms from Sims University? 3) For stuffs that is in T$R, have you tried the Booty? PS you won't be able to use pay items on your pictures if you are going to upload your creations here. So it may pay you to try and find free alternative. Perhaps add that you your WCIF post?

OK, this is what I achieved so far with my DBZ characters. Please give me some feedback! Bulma (2.0 version): I completelly redid her, playing with different hairstyles and outfits, and tried to make her eyes bigger and more cartoony. I think I did a pretty good job and she looks way better than my previous version, but I could still use some hints and suggestions to improve her, and about possible hairstyles and outfits. Which one do you like better, or think suits her most? Soon I'll be trying to make adult Bulma, with short hair. Goku: Ok, after reading LOTS of tutorials, I finally learned some basic clothing making, so I could do my own DBZ outfits because I was too unhappy with Goku's clothes. I still don't think this is as good as the one at Simiversity (which sadly can't be downloaded anymore) but hey, it's my first custom clothes ever! And still, he looks way better than his previous version. I also tweaked a little with his face and used a new, more doll like skintone. Piccolo: This one was hard to make! I couldn't find anything that looked like antennas, so for now I will leave him with those little horns. But I would REALLY appreciate it if anyone tells me where to find antennas or makes them for me! I still have no clue about how to make meshes, creating textures for clothes was hard enough to learn! Soon (cos I'm already working on them): - Vegeta and Chichi 2.0 - Son Gohan (child and teen versions) - Videl Satan (teen version) Not so soon, but yet to come: - Krilin and A18 - Master Roshi - Trunks (I guess I'll do future Trunks version first) - Mr. Satan (or Hercule Satan) Please, tell me what you think! Previous comments were really usefull! |

They are looking great Just a few observations: 1) Goku - The eyes need to be a bit bigger. Try playing around with the iris to get the eye shape right (maybe move it toward the outer eye a bit). The Jaw need to be a bit bigger and square like. Eye brow need to be a bit thicker. Chin a bit shorter. The nose need to be a bit pointier. 2) Bulma - The eyes look good. The chin seem to be a bit too long. You may need to try adjusting the head size, face height and the chin height together to get the best result. Also I would also suggest to reduce the nose mass a little. 3) Piccolo - The eyes again need to be a bit bigger and perhaps move the eye brow a bit more forward (aWT has a slider for it - I think). The head need to a bit more square-ish. The face need to be a but more fuller. Noise a bit more pointier. 4) Also you may want to beef up your male characters a bit more. DBZ characters tend to have big muscles Like the picture below: ![]() Just upload the Namek/Alien Antennas for you. You can find it at my blog . I will start playing SWTOR next Friday with its Australasian release. So if you want/need anything else for this project, you may want to say so now

If you have a little free time on your hands and want to help, I would REALLY appreciate some nice gloves for Vegeta! I like the gloves mesh that comes with the repairman (NPC) outfit, but I have no idea about how to turn that into usable gloves for my sims. If not possible, I guess I would do with simple painted gloves, but it won't look as nice. I'll be working on these characters (Bulma, Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta and Chichi) a little more this weekend and I will try to have final versions of them by next week, so I can start uploading them and move to other characters. I'm already halfway with Gohan and Videl and I'd like to start with Krilin as soon as possible. Also, anyone has hair suggestions for child Gohan? It's really hard to find children hairstyles that look any close to his! |

I have tried making gloves like objects before for my Freddy character and my pirate hook project. They didn't turn out to what I expected. In essence, it is very hard to make a mesh to sit over the hand perfectly. Also the mesh had to be bigger than the hand to avoid clipping during animations. And every time I tried the poly count hit the roof. Most of the glove I seen is either part of the clothing or painted hands. Someone awesome may have figured how to do one but I haven't figure out how to do one yet without excessive poly counts.

I made some gloves before (in the sims 2) and the bone assignments were obnoxious to do on all ten fingers. Irregardless, keep up the good work. |

Ok, I've been working a lot lately so I didn't have much time to resume my DBZ characters, but finally this weekend I could spend a couple of hours (several, actually) and this is what I've acomplished. I'm really looking forward to move to other characters, so for now I guess I'm done with these. Let me know if you think they're good enough to upload or still need any more changes. I basically used more sliders and slider multipliers to tweak more with their faces, and make their bodies bigger and more muscular. I also played with their height, making Piccolo taller (as seen in the anime) and Vegeta shorter. I redid some parts of their clothing to add more detail (like Goku's and Vegeta's boots, or Vegeta's Badman shirt). And thanks to CloudWalkerNZ, my Piccolo now has antennas! Anyway, here are the pics. Please tell me what you think! |

And now, two of the beauties of DBZ world. I used sliders to make them smaller and shorter than the guys, because seriously, girls being the same size as the Z warriors (which are huge) is just ridiculous. The only exception is Bulma being the same height as Vegeta, but that's just because he's shorter than the other guys. However, he's way more beefy and muscular! I was unhappy with my previous choices of clothes for Bulma, so finally I decided to make her outfits like the ones she wears in the anime. So, I give you Bulma Briefs in 3 different flavors: And Chichi in 2 versions: her younger self (when she fought at the Tenkaichi Budokai) and her mom style: That's it for now, please tell me what you think! I want to move to other characters so, tell me if you think they're ok to upload, and I will get to work on Gohan, Videl, Krillin and A18... for now. More to come! |

I think they're looking really good, but you will need to take photos of all of them in game, preferably with high graphics. Make sure to put them in a neutral closed room with lots of lights so we can properly see how they will look in game. |

While I can see that this thread has been inactive for a few months, I figured I'd try anyway. First of, GREAT looking characters! I have a question though, I myself am making DBZ characters for my game, and I have the amazing Vegeta and Goku hair that you also have. So I just wondered if you have tested them in gameplay? For me they show perfectly in CAS but when "releasing" the sims into game, it turns into a glitchy version of a base game hair. Do you have the same problem? |

Hi everyone, I kind of dropped this project because I had too much work to do and couldn't find the time to continue it and I'm too much of a perfectionist to release them until they look exactly like I want them to look. But now I thought, "what the heck, life's too short to do everything perfect", so if you think those characters are ok the way they are, ask me for them and I may upload them, (not sure yet if I'll upload them to this site or to a personal blog, I love MTS but there's too many rules to upload custom content and I'm really short of time). The characters are all tested in my own game and they look pretty well there. Yeah, I already played them and had so much fun with them in my little DBZ world. I also made their houses, althrough far from perfect, and I added Krilin, Master Roshi and Launch (yes I created Kame house as well), and the androids, I may post some pictures if anyone is interested in seeing them. So if anyone wants the characters, ask for them either in this thread or by PM, and I'll try to upload them. I just don't want to spend my time doing it if there's no people interested in downloading them. To Sandi1st: I did myself most of the textures for the clothes (the meshes are downloaded or from the game) and downloaded the hair. I can't remember where I downloaded everything, but if somebody wants the characters, I will upload them in a pack with all the stuff required for them to work (another reason why I don't think I will be able to upload them to MTS, I can't remember where did I get the CC I used in order to post the download links and give proper credit to the creators). So to say, I'm still an active Sims 3 community member and player, and I will forever be a DBZ fan, so my characters are still available if anyone wants them. I just don't think I will be editing them any further, I'm currently working on other things for my own game, that may or may not see the light |

Sorry for taking this long in answering you. I also had that issue with the hair, then after hours of googling and trying things, I realized the hair only looks fine if you set the sim details to high or very high. I had to make clones of the hair meshes and enable them for low and medium detail levels too, which was a pain in the ass but I finally acomplished, since I played in and old computer and my video card couldn't afford the luxury of running in high detail. |

I've been wanting to upload these characters to my personal blog for a while, but the problem is I have TONS of CC in my game and I simply lost track of which packages are needed for these characters to look as in the pictures. I've been working a lot lately and I really don't have the time to individually locate each piece of CC in my huuuuuge "Mods" folder. Anyone knows an easier way to create a copy of these sims that includes all content necessary for them to work? I mean clothes, skintones, accessories, I can point sliders and hacks separatelly. If anyone helps me do this, I will gladly share them. I also have non final versions of A18, Krillin, Master Roshi (AKA Kame Senin), teen Gohan, teen Videl, if anyone wants them, although they need improvement. I never uploaded any of my self created content so I'm really lost about the ways to do it! |
