I was wondering if I could re-texture certain things that you've done? Things like the food and the shells. I'm not 100% sure which files I'm looking for in the build package, or I'd try doing the other shells, but working from your packages, I can re-texture the things you've already done, (and when I'm a little braver I'll try one of the shells you haven't done yet). I was hoping that since you can only have one of each of those items in the game anyway that it wouldn't be a problem. I've only re-done the one food so far. It's fine if it's not ok though, I'll just keep them for personal use. Available for download in: Post # 5 This soup, bean soup and jellybeans Post #16 Retextured food bowls |

I think it looks great. Quite a bit better than the olive drab brown slop usually in the bowl. Great job.

Please remember you can only have one "goop/gruel" food re-texture in your game at a time. This includes any re-textures by other people, although Shimrod is the only other one I know of who's made any. *EDIT*...ICON FIX Fixed the menu icons for these 3 re-textures, redownload if you want the image to appear pictured correctly in the menu for the red pepper soup and in the menu and inventory for the other two food items. The fix is just for consistency in the food images, if it doesn't bother you it's fine to just keep the original version. Thank you to falcophoenix for pointing it out ![]() Roasted Red Pepper Soup Bean Soup, not as nice looking as the red soup IMO but still, it's something different And, my apologies in advance......Jellybeans LOL made for my cousin, you can always pretend it's fruit salad :P |

I love these! Thank you so much! I just got TSM and I'm desperate for mods within the game. Or, at least, maybe a way to "unlock" some of the decor-items so we can change their textures! I hate that I can't make a barrel of apples look like one filled with pears or avocados or something :/ Thanks again!

Yep, I would love it if we could take that barrel of meat that looks like dog turds in a barrel and change it up for pears or green apples or just add the options for green apples as well as red. I love using the crates of food, but the bushel of onions has a strangely flat look to them and are a little too brown. Looks more like it's a bucket of swill or brown circle soup. Can we add a color option to the rice sack so it looks like sacks of different stuff? Is there any way to make the color of the wine and ale barrels more selectable or retexturable other than with the tint? The food always has in this game looked wholly and totally unpalatable. Is there any way to make the King's ugly wooden bowls look any different than the blacksmith's ugly wood bowls without changing the default for the entire ugly wooden bowl repertoire for the whole bunch? Just a whole bunch of questions about food since we're talking about food. Quote:
The bean soup looks almost exactly like the homemade bean soup that I make. And the jelly beans look suspiciously like mixed berries and grapes. Does anyone know how to make these selectable in the menu? Like using the different textures for the different dishes in the recipe menu? Is that even possible? Or is there just one gook code/texture for everything in a bowl? These all may seem like stupid questions, but I don't know so I have to ask. And maybe if I ask, someone who's afraid to ask will get their answers. And no, Grim, I don't mean for you to take on another project, I'm just asking if it can be done.

I was really wanting to re-texture the bowl, but like the food, it would change all the bowls, which doesn't really bother me. It would be nice to know the answer though for curiosities sake. I've made a latticed berry pie with a 'guide' in the image to show which part gets displayed in the game (I needed to make the guide to get the outer rim of the pie to show properly round the edges of the bowl). If anyone's interested in doing their own food re-textures I'll upload it. |

Go ahead and upload it. I'm more than certain someone will use it and love it. If it looks as good as the rest of your food, then I know it will spark someone's imagination. But start a new thread with it so that people can readily find it. It will be interesting to see what you can come up with for bowls, pitchers, and tableware. Decorated pottery would be a plus. A question with that. Are all the dishes; bowls, plates and pitchers, using the same ugly brown clay/wood default texture? Would changing one change them all? Or is the texture dish specific? I wonder if the bowls could be coded to be building specific. Or if the food could be coded to recipe specific, instead of just default. I am so inept at this sort of thing. But you know, I'll bet there is someone out there scratching his or her head going 'yeah, I wonder' who knows a whole lot more than I do; and who will look at it just to see if it can be done.

I'll keep it in the same thread, since I wouldn't download a re-texture if I couldn't first view an image of it, and you're only allowed so many images per post, so a new thread would just end up the same way. I'll post in the first post here any updates and give the comment number so they can be more easily found. Quote:
oo good question, I hadn't thought about that before, that will be interesting to find out....assuming I can find the right files in the first place, I'm a huge noob ![]() Unless someone else knows the answer to this *cough* Shimrod *cough*

So, another question. Can it be, is it possible, to code these as retexturable/customizable? The dishes that is. Even if it changes them all, could that be done? Somebody? Anybody?

They're independent of each other, the pitcher is listed separately. Changing the group serve bowl changes the single serve bowl too. Which is good from a laziness point of view but bad if you wanted the dinner bowls to be different from the main serving bowl.Ignore the design, it was just to test that I'd found all the things I needed to make the change. My castle lighting is very subtle, which isn't making for the best caps, apologies. Group serving bowl Inside of empty bowl....because I thought it looked nicer than the outside lol....sorry ![]() Single serve bowl |

Thank you LadySkye ![]() I'll upload this test one incase anyone else wants to see some bowl variation, the pattern is a little overkill IMO, but again, at least it's something different. I still like the inside better but they don't leave the empty bowls lying for long which is a shame. I tried using moveobjects and placing it on a table down the stairs but as soon as the 'eating' sim stood up to leave the table up the stairs, the moved bowl disappeared anyway, like it would have done if I hadn't moved it away from her. On the bright side, the bowls don't get laid down on the table all facing the same direction, so if there's a pattern on it, there's a tiny bit of variation between each at a dining table. (This is the bowl in the zip, not the stencilled looking one in the post above.) |
