Hi there! It seems like I've been here for quite a long time, but haven't post anything until now. Well, it's time then to say hello to everyone and beg for help.
I've just installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview and it works flawless, except one "tiny" thing. I can't install The Sims 2.
Installation starts normally, I have to check my language and click next, then type my cd-key and, guess what, click next! Done. That was hard.
Unfortunately, the real problem shows when I have to choose my destination folder. It doesn't matter if it's default or custom path, after clicking ok window dissapears just to show... the same window! Lovely.
I've tried many compatibility modes and compatibility manager but I just can't make it pass this window. Does anyone have or had the same problem?

I'm not at all surprised. You have to know that in the world of computer games, Sims 2 is quite old, yes? It's a given that at some point, the newest Windows OS would not be compatible with it.

So, we're nearing the point I've anticipated for awhile. I'm still on XP for now, and will be until absolutely forced to upgrade in order to be able to continue doing things online, which is why I had to go from W2000 to XP. When the day comes that I am indeed forced to "upgrade", I'll be getting a second computer. One will be my Sims 2 computer, with XP, and the other will be for everything else.

Well, I was actually surprised when I found out that The Sims 2 installation isn't working after successfuly installing my very old 16-bit game released in 1996 without any problems(infact, it works now better than it was in W7).

Caesum and nikoloks, you guys will probably need to wait for a very long time to find an answer, as W8 is pretty new and most people have either W7 or below.

Also, i once read an article stating that the purpose of W8 is mainly for touch-screen PCs, so im not sure if that contributes in the problem or not.

So i suggest you two get back to W7 or lower.
