Ever since getting Showtime, my game has frozen every few minutes. Even without custom content, on a fresh save. It makes it very hard to play.

So going through the game help, lag section I noticed it says large save files could be an issue and wondered how large was too large? Mine is 30MB which I can't imagine being too large, but I don't know for the sims.

Right now the only mods I have are most of Twallan's.

I'm playing in Showtime's world, Starlight Shores.

I do experience more and longer lags before a Sim start off on any action that has Interaction menus - at the Fridge or when doing the outfit-change twirl at the Beds/Showers/Tubs etc. Twallan's site also has lots of new "dereferencing" cleanups on ErrorTrap's updates. Looks like the sloppy coding is getting sloppier.

I don't know if one has any bearing on the other, just thought it interesting.

Well at least it's not just my game, I suppose that's comforting, sorta.

After I deleted the showtime venues, the lag ceased. I noticed the sims that worked there stuck outside.

I have seen reports that the venue proprietors are spawning multiple times. Have you checked for that?

Sims also have a tendency to gather at lots for no reason at all. Mine were gathering at the consignment shop and getting stuck because there were so many of them trying to get in the door.

The only way I've found to stop either problem is to delete the lots and replace them and it seems to be OK so far.

Food for thought.

I was having alot of long pauses on new games too.
I used the NRass Register mod (http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Register) and turned off all the stray pets and paparazzi, My game has been running fine since.
Worth a try if you still have the problem
