Hi, all. I hope that I posted this in the correct area.

Just as the title says, I wanna move my house from the lot it sits on (a 30X30 lot) to another lot (a 50X50 lot). I am afraid that I will have to rebuild the house onto the lot I want it on, because the last time that I transfered it the house sat directly in the center of the new lot leaving too much space in the front and back yard. Is there a way to position the house where I want it to sit on the lot?

It took me forever to build this house and I would like to have to not do it again, you know?

Thanks in advance.

To my knowledge you can't position a house. It would be a lovely feature, have wanted it for a long time, but for now it will be in the middle :/

I don't know, but perhaps it would be better to bulldoze the large lot and place one more closely in size (but larger) to the house you want to move.

I have found even with EA premade community venues, no matter if you put the exact same size of lot next to the road, and use moveobjects the venue still doesn't meet the road and a lot of tweaking the front of the lot....walk from door to sidewalk has to be redone, reworked etc. No matter if you use the cheat to get it as close as possible to the street.

P.S. if a lot says it is 30x40 you would think that lot means it is 30 across (from front view) and 40 back in length from the road. Then you place a venue or your own house and they don't turn because it is backward in TS3. Something I came across when building in CAW often. The house or venue may say it is 30x40 but it can really be 40x30 making it impossible to face the street or be close enough the street.

It is 30 wide and 40 long. The thing is lots don't have a "front" by default, so the side facing the street can be either side. It's not difficult to hover over the lot and see which way is wide and which is narrow, though.

Unfortunately there's no way around having your house in the middle of the lot. It would be amazing to be able to pick up a house and move it to a new lot and be able to lay down the "footprint" of the house anywhere on the lot, wouldn't it?

You'll just have to build up a spectacular front yard, maybe put in a long driveway with a fountain and gardens, or something?

Yes, it would.

It depends upon the orientation relative to the world axes.

If you just want the location you can bulldoze the lot on the new location, and the house there, place a new lot and place your house on that lot. That way you can place the new lot where you want on that location as long as it's nothing in the way.

At least you can move houses. I get the "processing" loop every time I edit a lot. The Pets patch started this mess. :/

You could rebuild it using your existing lot as a model. What I mean is to use CAW to place the lot with the home next to an empty lot of the desired size and then go to EIG to build. At least you'll have a handy 3D reference to speed the rebuilding up.

That could be bad cc. I had that a while back, the game played fine, but everytime I entered build mode, I could build to my hearts content. However, saving was another issue. Endless processing loop and I'd have to ctrl-alt-del out of the game.
